I have a great combination of formal and on-the-job training and I have been to many schools and have worked with many good railroad machinists. I have worked and trained as a mechanic or machinist since I was 18 years old when I joined the US Navy and served as an Aviation Machinist Mate. I have worked in the railroad industry since 1992 when I started with Consolidated Railroad (Conrail) as a machinist.
I have extensive experience as a heavy equipment mechanic. Worked on EMD and GE diesel electric locomotives. I Have been to GE and EMD running repair and Air brake schools. I have performed tasks which include: training of machinists, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, drop pit (where you change trucks and or traction motors), wheel true (machining rim to remove flat spots or rim differential), would troubleshoot locomotives that came to shop with mechanical problems, changed power assemblies, camshafts, turbos, airbrakes, epic airbrakes, and, of course, servicing of locomotives and rail cars.
