Machinery and Engines Supervisor: E.R. SCHIFFAHRT
- Nov. 2008 – present, Hyundai Heavy Industry.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising fabricating, assembling and test on machinery and equipment for compliance with ship building specification, class requirements, and ship building standards.
- Supervising fabrication of casted components (cylinder frames for engines, rudder horn, stern boss, propeller), NDT (UT, PT, MT), surface inspection, dimension check.
- Supervising fabrication of machined components (bed plate, frame box, cylinder frame, piston crown, piston rod, connecting rod, propeller shaft, and propeller), NDT, and dimension check.
- Supervising fabrication of welded components (rudder, crane columns, engine bed plate and frame box), NDT, and dimension check.
- Supervising assembling, factory acceptance test of main engines (MAN 6S50MC, 6S70MC, 12K98ME), and auxiliary engines (HIMSEN 6H17/28, 5H21/32, 7H32/40), and evaluating during dock trials, load test and sea trials.
- Supervising assembling and factory acceptance test of deck cranes (Macgregor made in NOV factory), provision cranes (Oriental, DMC), mooring winches (Rolls-Royces), steering gear (Kawasaki), life boats (Hyundai).
- Conferring with design personnel in order to clarify or resolve problems, and to develop or modify designs.

1980 – 1985, Polytechnic Institute, Minsk, Belorussia – Engineer, Internal Combustion Engines.
Certification
I have chief engineer license of ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 3000 kW or more. For renewing required sea going certificates I need around two month.
Skils
- Casting, welding, machining, material test, NDT, dimension inspections of main components for low speed and medium speed engines, cranes, propellers, shafts, rudders, rudders horn, and piping.
- Assembling, operation, overhaul, and testing of MAN low speed MC and ME and medium speed engines different bore size.
- Perform engines and machineries factory test and performance test during sea trials.
- Able to work with Microsoft Office, Maintenance programs.
- English and German - good, Lithuanian and Russian – 1st language.
