Naval Engineer

Objective


My experience in the shipyard industry and my academic education as Oceanic and Naval Engineer give me the confidence to face new challenges in this sector.

In recent years I have been in charge of all aspects related to ship construction, including scheduling, ship outfitting, inspections and project management for a wide range of vessels such as ferries, supply and offshore vessels and inland passenger vessels, in Spain and Portugal shipyards.

Objective

To obtain a position as Naval Architect in a challenging and professional environment that would allow me to improve and perfect my skills.


Experience


January 2012 Present Site manager. DOURO AZUL. Porto. Portugal.

Responsible for the day-to-day on site running of the construction projects of 2 Inland Passenger Vessels (Projects C008-Queen Isabel and C009-Amavida at Navalria Drydocks. Aveiro. Portugal).

I am also in charge of surveys and inspections, ensuring that the vessels (hull structures, machinery installations/systems and relating components) are built according to the rules and regulations of Directives 2006/87/CE, 2009/46/CE and 2009/56/CE of Inland Waterways and comply with the technical specifications and good shipbuilding practices.



November 2009-May 2011 Project Manager in superstructure ship area. HJ BARRERAS SHIPYARD. Vigo. Spain.

Responsible for management of superstructure ship area, outfitting, coordination of the staff involved and monitoring project progress of the vessels built in the shipyard such as: seismic vessel WG Vespucci (Shipowner WesternGeco), offshore vessel Edda Hotel Fides (Shipowner Ostensjo Rederi), ferries Volcán del Teide and Volcán Tinamar (Shipowner Armas) among others.



September 2008-November 2009 Project Manager in ships accommodation.

Responsible for interior ship design, development, engineering and project management in the Technical Department.



July 2006-October 2006 Naval Technical Engineer in technical office. DRAGADOS OFFSHORE. Cádiz. Spain.

Responsible for buoyancy and stability calculations, as well as mooring and load studies.

I was also in charge of monitoring and controlling the transfer of offshore structures to the barge within the Manoeuvring Department in the Adriatic Project.

Projects.

• September 2008. IMPROVE: Design of Improved and Competitive Products Using an Integrated Decision Support System For Ship Production and Operation. My project was to design a new chemical tanker at the earliest stage of the design process using LBR-5, a naval design programme. Final Advanced Master Project. University of Liège.

• October 2007 – September 2008. VISIONS: Visionary concepts for vessels and floating structures. An annual creative process for the definition and validation of visionary concept ideas for vessels and floating structures. Universities of Nantes (France) and Liège (Belgium).

• July 2005. Sailboat Design with 10 meters length. Final Bachelor Project. University of Cádiz.
