Work profile:



2006 – datum Project Manager & Technical Engineer:

Working as a project manager at the construction firm BM Valla Ltd. Main tasks to administrate construction and mounting of roof elements for larger buildings. Prepare offers to clients, mostly through commercial bids and finalize contracts with clients.

Follow-up on structural design of elements, directed groups of workers during mounting of construction elements to buildings, and final settlement of contractual issues with clients.



2003 – 2006 : Director and Technical Administrator:

Part owner and co-founder of a survey bureau designated for survey of vessels up to a size of 400GT. Main tasks included day to day operations, implementation of a quality management system in accordance with IST.EN 450004-1995. Creation of a quality manual and handbook used in the field during surveys by implementing standard step by step procedures for various inspections and survey types.



1992 – 2003 : Naval Architect & Technical Engineer:

Part owner and co-founder of Skipalínan sf. Naval Architects and Consultants, and Skipatækni ehf. The two companies merged in late 2001.



Typical Responsibilities:

Designing alterations and new buildings of various types of vessels. Making tender documents and undertaking on-site inspection of projects. Making stability calculations, including inclining tests and loading documents, for different types and sizes of vessels. Vibration and sound pressure analysis and making suggestions for solutions.



Governmental Liaisons:

Work with a governmental group under the profile “Safety at sea”, making booklets to educate captains about theories concerning stability, easy courses for sailors with lower educational background.



Technical Innovations:

GM Indicator: Project in cooperation with RT ehf., electronic engineers, in designing and building an instrument with the purpose of measuring and calculate online changing static stability of vessel at sea. The project resulted in three documental reports, design and building of a physical device that is still under further development. Further development is in cooperation with the Icelandic Maritime Authorities. Today this device is in use in 17 different vessels for long term testing.



Roll Reduction Tank: Design of a new type of Roll Reduction tank for damping the rolling of vessels at sea. Roll Reduction tanks are available both as a passive and active versions. I active version the Roll Reduction tank uses theories, methods and devices, resulting from work on the GM Indicator



1987 – 1992 : Governmental Technical Engineer:

I worked as an electrical engineer and department engineer for Icelandic Maritime Authorities, IMA. Responsibilities included: Review drawings of electric constructions and plans for components and installations. Survey of electrical installations on board vessels, both new buildings and renovation.

Education after grammar school:

1983 – 1987 : Naval architect (construction). Elsinore tech collage Denmark.

1979 – 1982 : Tech physic (electro) no exam. Uppsala University Sweeden.

1976 – 1979 : Electronic engineering (soft current) Fyris tech. Uppsala Sweeden

1974 – 1976 : First part of electronic engineering Tech. collage Íslands
