Naval Architect

Objective

To find a full time naval architect position of design and analysis of floating structures with a focus on hydrodynamics, global performance, mooring analysis, stability, and model testing, such as FPSOs, TLPs and CALM buoys.

Experience

* University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas-Research Assistant (August 2002-Present)

-- Developed a Viscous/Inviscid Interaction method to assist in the design of high-speed propulsors, by coupling a three-dimensional Boundary Element Method with an integral boundary layer analysis code

-- Applied the developed Viscous/Inviscid Interaction method to open, ducted, and water-jet propulsor flows and validated the predictions with experimental measurements or other numerical methods

-- Improved modeling of hull pressure fluctuations induced by cavitating propulsors

-- Participated in the University/Navy/Industry Consortium on Cavitation of High-Speed Propulsors

* Tianjin University, Tianjin, China-Research Assistant (August 1998-July 2002)

-- Constructed a numerical model to study the vertical flow structure and longitudinal dispersion phenomenon in combined wave and current motion

-- Performed measurements of the vertical flow structure and pollutant transport in combined wave and current motion using Particle Image Velocimetry and Laser-Induced Fluorescence Tomography

-- Studied the transport and transform of pollutants acting on tide, waves, and wave-current in the coastal zone

-- Simulated typical flow motions in the estuary of Hai River for the optimal decision of navigation channels
