• The work involved in planning &scheduling, Docking &undocking, procuring raw materials, allocation of various jobs, controlling a contracted work force and Quality Inspection and delivery.
• Carried out repairs of self propelled barges up to 2000DWT, Hopper bottom barges, crane pontoons, tanker barge etc.
• Maintenance and repair of out-fittings, stern gear, rudder and steering systems, pipelines, anchor windlass etc.
• All works carried out to specifications and supervisions of classification societies such as ABS, BV, IRS, GLlyod, NKK, Captain of Ports, etc.
• Looked after Machine Shop that had lathes, radial drilling machine, grinders, compressors, etc. where marine and other industrial jobs were carried out.
• Prepared work done reports and clients’ & sub-contractors’ bills.
• Directed & supervised the expansion of the dry-dock including civil works (masonry & RCC). Looked after the maintenance of dry- dock, electrical installation and associated facilities
• During the course of the work I have dealt with surveyors, various Governmental, Port, and other Authorities for obtaining permissions, licenses, registrations as well as negotiations with clients.
Managing Technical Partner Olrofe Associates
Sept 1987 – Feb 1990
• Worked at Barge repair and construction firm ‘Olrofe Associates’ as contractors to Sesa Goa Ltd. Yard at Sirssaim, Goa India
• Undertook part construction of 2000 DWT barge.
• Fully managed and oversaw construction of portable Cutter- suction dredger suitable for shallow river dredging including fabrication and installation of all mechanical systems therein.
• Fabricated panels of hull of advanced Offshore Patrol vessels for Indian Navy under stringent Quality Control under sub-contract from principal contractor (Goa Shipyard Ltd).

• Started my own business by setting up a small workshop with a small team of workers taking job orders for general fabrication such as window grills & gates and specialized jobs such as Kort Nozzles, small HHP anchors.

• Directed and supervised the jumboisation of two Iron Ore carrier barges from 550DWT to 800DWT under the specifications and approval of Captain
• of Ports Goa (India)
Workshop Engineer Samant Marine Udyog
Jan 1981 – May 1985
• Manufactured and repaired various marine equipment such as stern gear, winches, anchor windlass, mechanical steering systems for barges, small passenger vessels, fishing trawlers etc. at machine shop facilities
• Manufactured mechanical wired type remote control apparatus for control of engines and hydraulic gear boxes.
• Managed & supervised the construction of portable hydraulically operated jack-up platform used for rock dredging suitable for depths up to 10.0 meters with 18.0 meters spuds
• Bottom opening hopper barges used in dredging operations, self propelled heavy bulk cargo barges
• Work carried out under American Bureau of Shipping/Bureau Veritas/Indian Register of Shipping specifications and inspection.
