Objective
Experienced Marine Master and Terminal Operations Manager would like to offer his services and knowledge to join teams in companies looking for persons of high responsability and developed skills in activities related to Port and Terminal Operations, Stowage of vessels (containers, general cargo and Dry bulk cargo)and operational cost control.
Experience
- From December 30th, 1977 until February 1983, working as Third and Second Mate on board general cargo ships, belonging to the ecuadorian company " Transnave ", a company member of the the shipping conference Eurosal.
- From February 1983 until June 1992, Chief Mate for shipping company “Ecuadorian Line", on board of general cargo and refrigerated / multipurpose vessels.
- From June 1992 until December 1992, Operations Manager Assistant in charge of the operational attention of multipurpose vessels of “Ecuadorian Line" at the port of Guayaquil.
- From December 1992 until January 1995, Master for shipping company “Ecuadorian Line”, on board of general cargo and refrigerated / multipurpose vessels.
- From April 1995 until August 2003, General Operations Manager for Maersk Line in Ecuador, inaugurating the first regular service of this line to Ecuador through the port of Manta, in May, 15th, 1995, and later through the port of Guayaquil, May, 16th, 1996, in charge of all vessels operations at both ports , as well as for the Operational Costs Control for the line’s activities in this country.
- Additionally, from May 1997 until April 2005: Founder and Manager of the port operator company “Operadora del Pacífico S.A.”, an operational company organized to provide to Maersk Line all services of stevedoring and operations management , as well as logistic support in company’s owned container yard, outside Guayaquil port facility.
Activities of maintenance and repair of containers were also provided for the line at this yard, for dry and reefer containers.
- From August 15, 2003 until April 2005, General Manager of affiliated companies of Maersk Ecuador, being these: Operadora del Pacifico S.A. and Pacific Container Transport S.A., the trucking company of Maersk ED, whose fleet offers national coverage for transport of containers.
- From May 2005 until March 8th, 2007, as Director of the new container terminal located inside the facilitiy of the Port of Emeraldas, in Ecuador, position that originally included the design of the new container yard, as well as the organization and setting of all the operational procedures and selection and training of all new personnel to operate the yard.
- This last position includes the planning and execution of cargo operations of all containers vessels calling the commercial port of Emeraldas.
- From March 9th, 2007, Operations Manager of the Port of Esmeraldas, in charge of all planning and execution of vessel’s operations, reception, storage and delivery of cargo, direct management of piers, open yards, container yard, warehouses, and also for maintenance and repair of all port equipment.

- Merchant Marine Master Degree, at the National Merchant Marine School of Ecuador.
- Operational and Technical Seminar for Refrigerated Containers, received at the Training & Education Center of Maersk / A.P.Moller group, in Svendborg, Denmark.
- Technical seminar for Marine & Industrial coatings systems against corrosion of ships and Industrial structures, sponsored by Hempel's Marine Paints, of Denmark.
- Management of Human Resources seminar, host by the Department of Human Resources of Maersk / A.P. Moller, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
- Basic Financial Principles for Companies, organized by the Department of Human Resources of Maersk / A.P.Moller, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
- Seminar for Analyst of Human Profiles, received in order to optimize human resources based on Predictive Index program, host by “Arquitetura Humanae” at Sao Paulo, Brazil.
- Firefighting training seminar, sponsored by the Ecuadorian Navy training center.
- Seminar for Handling of Dangerous Goods, including segregation of products and measures to control emergencies, dictated by trainers from Maersk South America regional management, Brazil.
- Participation in several conferences organized by the Business Anti-Smuggling Coalition (BASC), Chapter Ecuador, for prevention of terrorism and drugs smuggling in export and import cargoes.
