Mechanical Engineer Needing Underway Service Time

Objective


I am a Mechanical Engineer with experience in a broad range of technical applications. I am looking to obtain a position in the engine department of a vessel where I can gain valuable knowledge and experience. I currently need 180 days of underway sea service to obtain approval to test from the NMC for third assistant engineer of steam and or motor vessels.

- Served in key technical positions in the paper manufacturing, machinery sales, construction, and energy industries.

- Presently design and implement piping systems, oversee civil construction projects, and initiate maintenance and production process improvements for a paper manufacturing plant. (Katahdin)

- Solicit and review bids for projects, and schedule construction, installation, testing, and start-up.

- Serve on the company’s energy conservation team, tasked with saving costs through enhancements to boiler operations and elimination of unnecessary sewage losses.

- Operated 14 Wärtsilä 20V34SG natural gas reciprocating engines on a load varying schedule for a Nevada power plant serving the mining industry. (PIC-Marubeni)

- Performed around-the-clock preventive and corrective maintenance on engines, generators, pre-combustion chambers, and other equipment.

- Served as a consultant to improve processes for a manufacturing operation which produces custom kitchens and baths. (Ware-Rite)

- Evaluated processes, manufacturing bottlenecks, machinery operations, safety issues, and quality, and made recommendations to the company owner for improving efficiency and productivity.

- Made on-the-spot repairs to malfunctioning machinery.

- Served on the company quality control team, and functioned as interim safety manager.

- Fielded trouble calls from customers, ordered repair parts, and scheduled technicians to perform repairs for the largest Caterpillar heavy machinery dealer in the United States. (Milton CAT)

B.S., Mechanical Engineering Technology (cum laude),

University of Maine at Orono, 2004.

-Completed a concentration in Construction Management.

-Earned and maintained a Pulp and Paper Foundation

Scholarship throughout college, and was recipient of the

President’s Achievement Award for academic excellence.

-In addition to classroom work, gained practical skills in

welding, cutting, lathe and milling machine operation,

stress and hardness testing, and flow rate testing.
