I am a “Haws Pipe Captain.” A third generation sailor. My father retired as a Chief Engineer for MSTS. (Now MSC). My grandfather was a ships carpenter. I worked my way from deck hand to engineer to captain and finally to Master 1600 ton upon oceans with towing endorsement.
I raised two children working for 20+ years in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska as a fisherman and tug boat man both licensed and unlicensed, accruing seven years as a licensed mate and five as Captain. I have worked on ship assist and anchor tugs in Valdez and Port of Anchorage, tug boats in the North Pacific taking tows through the Bering Sea to Prudho Bay, diving support and deep water salvage tugs in the Bering Sea and North Pacific and supply boats in the Cook Inlet.
I have another twenty years work experience in the construction and oilfield industry as a hard hat diver, crane operator, Ironworker, roughneck, roustabout and common laborer.
I was employed by ITT industries in the Middle East where I was the Senior Crane Operator. I supervised and coordinated the safe and timely operation of a four crane fleet. I am safety oriented knowledgeable of the ISO guidelines and completely familiar with the US Navy P-307 crane operators regulations. In my tenure of two years and seven months there were NO LOST TIME ACCIDENTS attributable to the crane operation.
My last two jobs were as the Captain of a 94’ 1650Hp single screw converted YTB operating in the North Pacific area from Seattle to Hooper Bay Alaska, the Bering Sea, the Kuskokwim river delta and the Kuskokwim river as far up as Bethel. The job ended at freeze up and the tug was then sold before the following spring.
I just completed a four month relief captain job on a salvage tug working out of Dutch Harbor.
My goal is to obtain long term employment.
I know I can be an asset to your organization.
Thank you for your time and attention.
