I would like to further my career and qualifications, perhaps move further afield from UK coastal waters, on to a larger ship, or get my teeth into a new project all together!
Experience
Current Position - Operations Manager & Captain of a 55m coastal ship, freighting aggregates around the south east coast of England. Started in April 2008 to present for Thames Shipping Ltd.
Master of 220 PAX high speed catamaran in the upper parts of the River Thames for Thames Clippers from September 2007 to April 2008, reason for leaving = prospects within Thames Shipping, Career Development.
Mate / Master of a cargo barge for JJ prior ltd. trading south east coastal waters from July 2004 to September 2007.
Education
10 GCSE's grade A to C, attended Gravesend Grammar School for Boys.
Certification
International Boatmasters Licence Tier 1 Level 2, Endorsed for High Speed, Passenger Ops, Cargo Ops, Local knowledge in the upper parts of the River Thames. Thames Estuary Endorsement. I have amounted some 36 months plus sea time with certificates of discharge. I am trying to progress and acheive STCW qualifications.
Pilotage Exemption certificates for River Thames and River Colne.
Skils
Very experienced in handling cargo barges ranging from 28m to 55m, within confined waters - River Colne and Thames.
Good knowledge of engineering and general maintenance of vessels.
Good contacts within ship repairs, dry docking etc.
Knowledge of business management, financial evaluation reports.
In depth knowledge of the ISM code and OHSAS 18001, 14001 management systems.
Recently acheived a six figure sum from the UK Department for Transport by way of a grant to aid freight by water.
