A brief summary of my background:
Since the year 2010, I have been serving on Offshore DP vessels and from April, 2013, as a Master SDPO onboard Dynamic Positioned Vessels engaged in various types of jobs in the Offshore Industry.
I am a handler with expertise, on vessels driven by Azimuths as well as on vessels driven by conventional twin screw fixed propellers.
Having served in oil producing areas of Brazil, UAE, West Africa, UAE, Qatar, Mumbai Offshore, and the East Coast of India, I have worked on varied offshore vessels such as PSVs, MPSV, AHTS and Construction vessels, performing support jobs related to the oil production industry. I have been engaged in Supply duties, Rig Moves, Towing of Work Barges, light anchor handling, maintenance of Jackets, wire line and well stimulation, Support vessel to DSV in sub sea and surface renewal of SPM hoses and components and several other related jobs such as assisting a float on / float off vessel in discharging her cargo of a 7500 mt work barge. Engaged in Acoustic walk away, walk around survey for Shell, in the close vicinity of their rig. Been awarded, along with my fellow DPOs, a certificate for proficiency shown in the survey, carried out by Schlumberger. Been engaged in STS fuel transfers at slow speed.
Since 1982 and prior 2010, I have served the Merchant Navy onboard Cargo Vessels, Bulk Carriers, Container ships, Ro-Ro and Heavy Lift Ro-Ro vessels and oil tankers. The maximum heavy lifts our vessel has handled was 320 mt, all done with ship’s gear.
In all I have more than 37 years of service in the Marine Industry.
I have had vast global experience with people management, crisis handling, decision making, building cross cultural cross community relationships, safety and quality audits, inspections, audits for safety and compliance with regulations, bringing operational efficiency and skill development to the fore. I have also assisted in re writing the SMS Manuals of the Carnival Cruise Lines, under supervision.
Apart from my sailing experience, I have also been associated as Faculty with The Tolani Maritime Institute, involved with distance learning course ware and training of Cadets and for candidates studying for the BSC Nautical Degree.
I have worked as Captain Superintendent with Ravenscroft Shipping Inc. Miami.
I was involved with their Tanker Operation, inspections, preparation for inspection and audits.
I have trained ship’s staff in the working of the ISM Code and with various Company Procedures.
I have reviewed and written procedures of the Company’s SMS Manuals and guidelines to sea going staff.
I have a keen sense for self checks in my organisation, determining whether the vessel / organisation is in compliance with regulations and finding what needs to be improved or implemented.
I am presently serving on board the Allianz Zeus as Master SDPO since the 14 of July, 2019.

- Worked with Ravenscroft Shipping Inc. Miami as Capt. Superintendent in 1998 and in 2000 / 2001.
Preparation and Review of Management System Manuals.
Preparation of plans, manuals and documents for marine operations.
Personnel Management, various HR functions including innovative people engagement
Preparation of Risk Assessment s and documents relating to identification of hazardous operations on board ships.
Pre vetting inspections and audits of ships to ensure compliance with trading and safety requirements.
Beaching of ships going for scrap.
Attending to defect reports and coordinating repairs and requirements.

- Worked as Faculty with Capt. P.S. Barve’s Tolani Maritime institute from mid-2001 to end 2002.

Academic Qualification:
Passed SSC with distinction from St. Theresa’s High School, Bandra – SSC – in 1979.
Passed HSC Science with distinction from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai – HSC (Science) – in 1981
Preparing for FYBSc at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, at the time when I was inducted as a Cadet in the Merchant Navy.
