Objective


I am seeking employment which will allow me to pursue career opportunities in the maritime industry. My long term goal is to become the master or mate of a vessel, and I am willing to accept any position which may ultimately lead me to achieve my goal.

Position: Relief Captain and Deckhand/Purser

Supervisor: John Ferris, Captain

Responsibilities: As captain, I pilot the ferry on regularly scheduled runs to and from Herron Island on the waters of Puget Sound, Washington. Supervise deckhand, oversee loading and unloading of vessel, maintain log, perform emergency drills, oversee refueling and maintenance of vessel. Assure that the vessel is operated in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. As deckhand, my duties include handling dock lines, operating ramp, loading/unloading vehicles, securing safety nets and wheel chocks; assist in refueling and maintenance of vessel. Purser duties include collecting fares and enforcing ferry access policy. Remain on-call 24 hours a day for emergency runs.

Position: Volunteer Deckhand/Operations

Supervisor: Paul Johnson, Captain

Responsibilities: Handling dock lines, assisting disabled passengers in boarding vessel, Raising and trimming sails, standing watch at helm. Assist in maintenance of vessel. Operations duties included promoting non-profit charity cruises, fund-raising activities.



1975 – 2005: Increasingly responsible positions in the outdoor power equipment industry

1989 – 1998: Western Equipment Distributors, Kent, WA

Supervisor: Dick Bergeron

Responsibilities: Control of a multi-million dollar inventory of outdoor power equipment. Warehouse Manager and Consumer Service Manager duties. Supervise warehouse staff of up to 8 personnel.
