Objective


1.Marine cargo surveying, Petroleum and bulk dry cargo.

Experience


June 2002 to date: IFIA certified Marine cargo surveyor with Intertek Oil, Chemical and Agri, Marsden Point New Zealand:

Portfolio includes Quality and quantity inspections of import crude, export and import product and coastal petroleum movement in New Zealand.

Quality inspections include sampling and testing of petroleum products to various ASTM other international standards.

Quantity inspections include loss investigation and comprehensive reporting to clients.

1996 to 2002: Master of various Bulk, container and Pure Car Carriers on vessels owned by Mitsui OSK lines,Tokyo and Great Eastern Shipping, Mumbai.

1994 to 1996: Manager Shipping and Logistics with CMB transport and shipping, Belgium.

Here I managed agency operation of gas and chemical tankers on the Indian coast. I also performed the duties of Port Captain for this company.

1992 to 1994: Master of various Bulk Carriers with Great Circle Shipping of Bangkok.

1985 to 1992: Chief officer aboard various Panmax Bulk Carriers owned by Maersk Line, Singapore.

1997 to 1985: Various ascending capacities from Cadet to Chief officer aboard Bulk, container and tankers.


Education


Bachelor of Science degree from the Bombay University.

Majored in Physics.


Certification


Master Mariner Class 1 with STCW endorsement valid till 2009.

Certified IFIA petroleum inspector-Accredited by the International Federation Inspection Agencies.

All modular courses mandatory to retaining the certificate of competency.


Skils


Professional Skills: Good linguistic and communication skills and can lead a team.

Extensive command experience on large mordern merchant ships which include Panmax, 3rd. generation container vessels and Pure Car Carriers.

Practical knowledge of bulk liquid and solid cargo measurement, loss investigation and reporting.

Current knowledge of MARPOL, ISGOTT, SOLAS and the IMDG code.

Ability to work with and interact with diverse cultures and nationalities.

Excellent computing skills.



Personal Skills:

Good spatial and logical intelligence.

I am to a large extent a perfectionist and have over the years displayed an ability to balance the economic demands of the shipping industry with providing a safe working environment aboard the vessels I have worked on.


 


Memberships: Member of the Nautical Institute. Member of the company of Master mariners.



Hobbies: Amateur Radio, Recreational flying (Microlight aircraft) and Aeromodelling.
