Professional Experience

Dynacom Tankers Management Ltd. Athens, Greece. (Jan 2000 – till date)

Joined the company as Chief Officer in 2000 and got promoted as Master in 2003. Since then have been working on board tankers owned by Dynacom Tankers Management ltd., a leading shipping company, owners and managers of 40 large size tankers. It took the “Tanker Company of the Year” honour for Greek Tanker companies in 2006. The company was cited as "epitomising the amazing modernisation and renewal of Greece tanker fleet", as well as being one of the first Greek operators to invest in LNG carriers.



The Shipping Corporation of India (From 1990 – 1999)

Joined The SCI as “Trainee Nautical Officer” in 1990 through All India Entrance examination. Rising in the company to the rank of Chief Officer, clearing all certificate of competency examinations at first attempt.

The Shipping Corporation of India was established in 1961. Starting out as a marginal Liner shipping company with just 19 vessels, the SCI today has metamorphosed into a giant conglomerate having 83 ships of 4.6 million DWT with substantial interests in 10 different segments of the shipping trade.

Sailing through for over 4 decades, the SCI has a significant presence on the global maritime map and is undoubtedly the Country’s premier shipping line. The SCI owns and operates about 35% of the Indian tonnage and operates in practically all areas of shipping business servicing both national and international trades. Keeping in view the demands of the nation’s trade, the SCI over the years has diversified into a large number of areas, and is today the only Indian shipping company operating break-bulk service, international container service, liquid / dry bulk service, offshore service, passenger service, in addition to manning / managing a large number of vessels on behalf of various Government Departments and Organizations.



Achievements, Merits and Responsibilities Handled :

As Master Mariner with worldwide ocean going experience on tankers, bulk carriers and general cargo aboard vessels with varying tonnage and cargoes gained specialist experience at cargo stowage and securing, directing and supervising cargo operations which include stowage planning, packaging and securing for inter-modal transportation, and ensuring safe practices / procedures during operations.

Responsible for Material movement plans, Coordinating with Logistic Manager, and Suppliers for efficient traffic and deployment. Preparation of master list of ship’s permanent and consumable equipments. Coordinate with supervisors regarding material requirements and ensure that materials are delivered and stored/positioned in its designated area in safe manner without any damages. Management of ships equipments.

Well versed with ship construction, structural integrity, operation and limitations of lifting gear including heavy lifts. Seagoing background includes safe maintenance of cargo gear, and calculation of safe working loads. Calculate static and dynamic vessel stability during cargo operations at sea and in port, and the bending moments and shearing stresses to barge/ship's structure. Good knowledge of Dry Bulk cargo operations and trade requirements and precautions for specific cargoes.

Developed particular expertise in tanker (crude, product), especially in relation to all aspects of cargo carriage and transfer. Attended detailed investigations and surveys of loss claims and incidents, examples of these include cargo handling, pumping, venting, COW, ballasting, tank cleaning, bunker supply and consumption, integrity of containment systems and compliance with international regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, US Coast Guard).

Have accumulated ample experience in the management of Charter Party’s/Contracts, disputes, navigational issues, casualty response and investigation, personnel injury, etc, often necessitating the preparations for litigation purposes.

Design securing arrangements of over- dimensional cargo on ships. Represent cargo owners, charterers, freight forwarders for surveys relating to cargo damage, claims and loss control.

Have been responsible for the implementation of the Quality Control Accreditation (ISO 9002) and act as Management Representative with attendant responsibilities for internal audits. Carrying out internal audits and implementation of ISM code onboard ships. Certified to carry out internal audits on ships/ashore


Education


Education / Qualifications

• Cert. of Competency “Master FG”.

• B.Sc. from St.Xavier’s College, Ranchi in 1990 with First division (Physics, Mathematic, Geology)

• Pursuing PG diploma in Logistics from Indian Institute of Material Management.

• Pursuing PG diploma in Hospital administration.

• Certified Lead Auditor (IPC approved, waiting results, confident of clearing).
