Navigated deep-draft through narrow channel North of Sunda strait enroute Japan, instead of circumventing Indonesian islands/Philippines, thereby reducing the sailing time significantly. Management and Company Shore Support did not apprise me of this situation, nor was any assistance rendered. Jan 1989 – Mar 1990, Shipping Corp. of Saudi Arabia Jeddah, K.S.A., Master

Commanded M.V. Arab Aljazeera, General Cargo, 15,000 DWT.

Plied between Spain, Italy, North Africa, Red Sea ports.

Transported bulk Sulphur. Overcame stability crisis. Management did not allocate labor/finance for trimming bulk cargo despite being warned. This caused a ‘list’ (which was foreseen) to the vessel in open sea under heavy weather conditions. The issue was rectified by taking port-of-refuge.

Handled two occurrences of stow-away situations.

Monitored severe weather conditions at sea and circumvented them each time. This was necessary from a safety standpoint due to the vessel’s age and general condition.
