Experience


Mar’2006– Aug’2006 Chief Officer Frontline Tankers,

International Tanker Management, Dubai

Frontline, based in Norway, is one of the world’s largest tanker owning companies and owns 52 tankers with a combined deadweight of 11.4 Million DWT.

Was Chief Officer on a VLCC trading world wide and shouldered the following responsibilities.

•Ensured that safe and efficient cargo operations are carried out at all times.

•Shouldered responsibility for all cargo, ballast and ancillary operations.

•My duties included sharing responsibility for the navigation of the vessel.

•Ensured that the water tight integrity and stability of the vessel was maintained at all times.

•Supervised the maintenance of cargo, deck and miscellaneous fittings.

•Undertook duties of the ship’s Safety Officer, Pollution Prevention Officer as well as Ship Security Officer.

•A significant achievement was when I successfully prepared the vessel for dry dock within a short span of seven days during the voyage from Far East to Singapore.



Nov’2004 – Jan’2006 Chief Officer SOCATRA Tankers, Bordeaux, France

The SOCATRA Group runs a fleet of vessels ranging from product tankers to VLCC.

Majority of the ships are chartered by the major oil companies and operate all over the world.

Was Chief Officer on product tankers trading world wide and in particular between Europe and the United States. I shouldered the following responsibilities.

•Ensured that safe and efficient cargo operations were carried out at all times.

•Shouldered responsibility for all cargo, ballast and ancillary operations.

•Supervised the maintenance of cargo, deck and miscellaneous fittings.

•Ensured that the water tight integrity and stability of the vessel is maintained at all times.

•Undertook duties of the Safety Officer as well as Pollution Prevention Officer.

•A significant achievement was when I took charge as Chief Officer on brand new vessel delivered from Hyundai Shipyard, Ulsan, Korea.



May 1999 – June 2004 Asst Chief Officer / 2nd Officer Dynacom Tankers, Athens, Greece.

Dynacom is a leading tanker owner in Greece. A major share of the fleet is now new tonnage. The company has recently diversified into gas tankers.

As an Assistant Chief Officer my duties included all Chief Officer’s duties.

As a Second Officer my duties included assisting the Master and Chief Officer in the safe navigation and operation of the vessel respectively.

•Carried out navigation watch-keeping duties

•Made comprehensive passage plans.

•Took turns at preparing the bridge for sailing.

•Assisted the Master in communication duties.

•Took responsibility for all equipment necessary for the safe navigation of the vessel.

•Shared responsibility for the maintenance of safety and fire fighting equipment.

•My duties included mooring and anchoring operations.

•Participated in cargo and ballast operations out of interest and when required.



Nov’1996 - Apr’1998 3rd Officer Chevron Texaco Shipping,

San Francisco, USA.

The Chevron Texaco Shipping Company provides the marine transportation link between the companies operations. The company is one the world’s leading oil major companies.

As a Third Officer my duties included assisting the Master and Chief Officer in the safe navigation and operation of the vessel.

•Carried out navigation watch-keeping duties

•Shared responsibility for the maintenance of safety and fire fighting equipment.

•My duties included mooring and anchoring operations.

•I participated in cargo and ballast operations as required.

MBA in Maritime Management - (Merit)

This degree programme included advanced courses in Logistics, Operations and Marketing in Shipping; The Maritime Business Environment; Maritime Economics; Business Analysis and Systems; Financial and Management Accounting; Strategy and Transformation; Managing Shareholder Value; Maritime Policy; Human Resources; Consultancy. I also gained the Best Presentation Award at the University of Greenwich MBA Student Conference (2007).



15,000 word dissertation topic: ‘Test of the weak form efficiency of the Baltic Freight Market’.
