Duties and Responsibilities:
• Primary: Supervisor/Lead Petty Officer, E-5
• Responsible for 44 personnel to include maintenance, operations, and employment of 4 riverine patrol boats and 12 tactical vehicles.
• Collateral:
• Riverine Patrol Officer / Convoy Commander - Attained the highest qualification within the Riverine Community and all other maritime qualifications under it. Responsible for mission planning, interagency coordination, and execution of all aspects of riverine missions. Responsible and accountable for any and all personnel and equipment involved during missions, including multiple boats or vehicles, and up to 40 or more personnel. Received two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals for actions while serving as Riverine Patrol Officer in Iraq.
• Outstanding Coxswain - Using experience to help teach and qualify new coxswains, received Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for efforts in qualifying 20 prospective coxswains. Qualified to operate: 39’6” Riverine Patrol Boat, 33’ Riverine Assault Boat.
• Range Safety Officer - Ensured the safe operation of ranges to include conducting a safety orientation before each scheduled live-fire exercise. Verified all personnel were knowledgeable on the capabilities, tactics, techniques, and procedures of all weapons systems and and vessels/vehicles on the ranges. Ranges include static shoots, and dynamic shoots which can involve maneuvering boats, vehicles, and personnel while engaging multiple targets.
Accomplishments:
• Successfully planned, led, and executed over 40 joint RIVRON/Iraqi Police Service-River Police combat missions on the Tigris River as Convoy Commander and Riverine Patrol Officer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. October 2009 to May 2010.
• Selected to conduct formal maritime skills training for the Iraqi Police and Iraqi Coastal Border Guard. My knowledge and insight were vital in advancing Iraqi riverine capabilities and directly impacted the security in the region.
• Supervised subordinates in the arduous, continuous maintenance and operations of 30 vehicles, 8 boats, and associated equipment totaling $21.7 million in a wartime environment.
• Helped enhance the security of Al Anbar Province, Iraq while serving as Riverine Patrol Officer, Boat Captain, Coxswain, and Maritime Interdiction Operations Team Member. Operating on the Euphrates River and Lake Qadisiyah providing security for Haditha Dam, and conducted counter insurgency missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April to November 2008.

• Supervised six personnel and three workcenters. Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of 18 surface support craft, 115 outboard engines, 60 Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC), and ancillary equipment valued at over $15 million.
• Collateral:
• SDVT-1 Small Craft Operator - qualified to operate: 27’, 22’, 14’ Boston Whaler, 30’, 24’, Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB), and 14’ Combat Rubber Raiding Craft (CRRC). Special Coxswain qualification due to working exclusively in close quarters with submarines and combat divers in adverse conditions. Received Small Craft Petty Officer in Charge Pin for abilities.
Accomplishments:
• Over the course of four years, trained over 80 personnel leading to their qualification as small boat coxswains, and provided over 2,000 hours of surface support as a lead coxswain while serving as a critical safety net for SSN/DDS/SDV operations.
• Leadership and mentorship in conducting in-house repairs saved the navy an estimated $100K in contract costs while maintaining 100% equipment readiness.
