Chief Officer – Head of Department – Deck (Container Ships) May 2006 – till date

• As a chief officer, have direct responsibility of safe loading, carriage and discharge of cargo (including refrigerated containers and dangerous cargo), vessel maintenance and safety readiness at all times.

• Responsible for training of crew – enhancing their shipboard duties, leading teams to improve their response to all kinds of shipboard emergencies, as well as preparing them for their next rank.

• In charge of the complete dry docking of the deck department of a ship, including planning, preparing the dry dock specifications, calculation of dry-docking stability, execution of work, redelivery of the vessel from the repair yard after successful completion of all requisite inspections and tests.

• Involved in the complete implementation of the company Safety Management System on board for safe and efficient operation of ships.

• Have prepared vessel for ISM internal and external audits, third party inspections such as Classification Societies, flag state surveys and port state control inspections.

• Responsible for further strengthening and continuous implementation of, and compliance with, all company required ship management policies and procedures.

• Ongoing responsibility of carrying out safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the vessel.

• Responsible for safe navigation of vessel and efficient organization on board.

• Have successfully implemented company’s planned maintenance system on board for well-organized and economical operation of ships.

• Prepared and executed plans for safest and most economical navigational routes between ports.

• Carried out maintenance of all Life Saving and Fire fighting equipment under the supervision of the Chief Officer

• While on board the Great Lakes Bulk Carrier, acquired knowledge of bulk cargo operations on bulk carriers, including draft surveys, hold preparation, charter party requirements, lay time calculations, on hire/off hire surveys.



Nov 1996 – May 1999

• Started career at sea as Cadet (Apprenticeship) on board various types of vessels which include Supertankers, Product carriers, Container ships and General cargo vessels.

• Completed the sea time required, appeared and cleared 2nd Mates Licence (F.G.)

• Masters (F.G.) Exams for Mariners (International license to command merchant vessels), from Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India.

• 1st Mate (F.G.) Exams for Mariners from Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Surface Transport, Government of India.

o Safety systems: International Safety Management Code, ISO. Experience with implementing and maintaining ISM code.

o Environmental Codes: MARPOL.

o Security System: ISPS

o STCW 95
