Objective


An opportunity to participate in interesting and challenging marine projects, to advance as my capabilities and experience warrant. To work in a shore side position as a manager or port captain, or as a vessel captain leading to a shore side position.

Sept 2010-May 2011

Trico Marine, Lagos Nigeria

Resumed position as vessel master aboard the 5750 hp, 1342 GT Hondo River operating in Nigeria after US corporate management decided to eliminate the operations department & have operations run by the technical department as an area cost reduction measure. Master of the Hondo River sister vessel Spirit River during delivery from Onne Port, Nigeria to Fouchon, Louisiana, USA. Made redundant when company went bankrupt and sold all their offshore supply vessels.



Feb 2009-Sep 2010

Trico Marine, Lagos, Nigeria

Shore based position as Superintendent of Vessel Operations. Responsible for ensuring vessels are properly manned, have all current documentation and that items identified by the safety department as deficient are cleared. Also responsible for client relations concerning vessel issues, and as such often travel throughout West Africa as directed by management. As part of the senior management team, directly involved in cutting costs through active monitoring of vessel expenditures & with crew reductions through the vessel manning agency.



May 2007-Feb 2009

Edison Chouest Offshore, Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Master aboard the 6140 hp AHTS vessel Joan Chouest servicing offshore oil fields from Onne Port, Nigeria. Vessel involved with rig moves and assisting export tankers mooring and unmooring to the storage tanker FSO Yoho, and on the export tanker towline during loading conducting static tow. Relief captain aboard the 3600 hp dynamic positioning vessel C-Endeavour servicing deep water semi-submersibles. Voluntarily quit rather than transfer to domestic operations when informed overseas operations overmanned.



Nov 2005-May 2007

Trico Marine, Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Master aboard the 4200 hp AHTS vessel Roe River working from Onne Port, Nigeria towing material barges for Acergy. Voluntarily quit rather than transfer to domestic operations when company reflagged vessels and employed local captains.



Feb 2005-Nov 2005

Seacor Marine, Lowestoft, England

Master aboard the 6140 hp AHTS vessel Seacor Power servicing the semisubmersible Pride South Pacific offshore Congo, West Africa and towing material barges between Pointe Noire, Congo and Lobito, Angola for Stolt Offshore. Also sailed as master aboard the jet crewboat Jill McCall working from Escravos, Nigeria. Made redundant when company reflagged vessels and hired expat captains.

Nov 2001-Jan 2005

Tidewater Marine Corporation, Douala, Cameroon, West Africa

After voluntarily requesting a return to West Africa, sailed as relief master aboard various AHTS vessels in Congo, Gabon and Cameroon. Master aboard the 6140 hp vessel Murrill Tide towing material barges between Lobito, Angola and the Saibos FDS offshore northern Angola, also towing the barge Ayang 2 from Capetown to Cabinda. Delivery of the Murrill Tide towing the vessels Terry Tide and Gulf Fleet 70 from Abidjan, Ivory Coast to Singapore. Voluntarily quit upon disagreement with corporate management.

Tidewater Marine Corporation, Dubai, UAE

Master aboard the 1077 gross ton seismic survey vessel Carlson Tide laying and recovering seismic cables for PGS off Abu Dhabi.



Jan 2001-Jun 2001

Tidewater Marine Corporation, Baku, Azerbaijan

After requesting a transfer from West Africa to gain experience in another region, sailed as master aboard the 1491 gross ton, 8347 HP controllable pitch AHTS vessel Andoga servicing the semisubmersible Istiglal. Involved in two deep water anchor moves of the semisubmersable Dada Gorgud.



Mar 2000-Jan 2001

Tidewater Marine Corporation, Soyo, Angola, West Africa

Upon return to West Africa from delivery, served as master preparing the laid-up 5200 HP c.p. AHTS vessel Oil Typhoon for sea; and served as master for delivery from Abidjan, Ivory Coast to Soyo, Angola. Transferred as relief master to various AHTS vessels working in Malongo, Angola; Abidjan, Ivory Coast and Soyo, Angola

Master aboard the 4600 HP AHTS Terry Tide involved in servicing platforms, jack-up rigs and barges. Involved in numerous jack-up and barge rig moves including moving anchors and towing material barges for the DLB 101 while involved in pipe laying operations. Area of operation: Offshore Angola and Offshore Cabinda. Master during delivery and dry-docking at Walvis Bay, Namibia on two occasions. Master during vessel relocation from West Africa to Louisiana, USA towing two other AHTS vessels

Master aboard the AHTS vessels Terry Tide and the 5600 HP Columbia Seahorse involved in servicing platforms, barges, jack-up and semisubmersible rigs. Involved in numerous jack-up, semi and barge rig moves. Area of operation: Offshore Angola, Offshore Cabinda and Offshore Congo. Master during delivery and dry-docking at Walvis Bay, Namibia.

Tidewater Marine Corporation (previously Zapata Gulf Marine Corporation), Port Harcourt, Nigeria, West Africa

Master of the AHTS vessel Columbia Seahorse servicing and moving jack-up rigs offshore southern Nigeria working from Onne Port, Port Harcourt, Calibar and Warri. Relief master aboard the c.p. vessel Grand Seahorse assisting export tankers mooring and unmooring to the storage tanker FSPO IV, and on the export tanker towline during loading. Master during delivery and dry-docking at Abidjan, Ivory Coast and Capetown, South Africa.

Zapata Gulf Marine Corporation, Comalcalco, Tabasco, Mexico

Master of various supply vessels servicing platforms and semis in the Bay of Campeche working from Dos Bocas and Ciudad del Carmen. Master during delivery and dry-docking at Houma, Louisiana.



Apr 1982-Oct 1987

Zapata Gulf Marine Corporation (previously Seahorse Incorporated), Port Hueneme, California

Master aboard various AHTS and supply vessels servicing semisubmersibles, drillships, barges and platforms off Point Conception and the Santa Barbara Channel. Delivery of a 185 ft AHTS towing a 210 ft AHTS from Long Beach, California to Morgan City, Louisiana. Towed and set anchors for the 400 ft vessel FLIP for Scripp’s Institute of La Jolla, California.



Dec 1981-Apr 1982

Physicians and Surgeons Lab, Huntington Beach, California

As assistant purchasing agent, was responsible for inventory control and distribution of lab supplies, indexing and cataloguing incoming supplies. Also assisted and reconciled any supply problems with the lab technicians. Voluntarily quit to return to sea.



Feb 1980-Sep 1981

Military Sealift Command, Department of the Navy, Oakland, California

Bridge watch officer aboard the underway replenishment tanker USNS Hassayampa servicing the naval fleet between Subic Bay, Philippines and the Indian Ocean from March 1980 to January 1981. Also was involved in a dry-docking in Sasibo, Japan and operations off South Korea and the China Sea. Bridge watch officer aboard the naval research vessel USNS Dutton working along the west coast of the United States between Seattle, Washington and San Diego, California from April 1981 to September 1981. Responsible for a four man navigation watch and all lifesaving equipment aboard both vessels. Also received training in firefighting, damage control and safe ship handling. Voluntarily quit to be home with wife during birth of first child.



Aug 1979-Nov 1979

Offshore Logistics Incorporated, Morgan City, Louisiana

Mate aboard a 180-ft AHTS towing a 165-ft supply vessel from Morgan City, Louisiana to Singapore. Supervised a two man navigational watch and served as primary navigator aboard. Voluntarily quit after trip to gain deep-sea time and experience aboard larger vessels.
