Master 1600 GT, Master ITC 3000 GT, 3rd Mate Unlimited, Able Seaman Unlimited

Objective

Seeking employment as Master or Mate to 3000 GT ITC to broaden my scope as a professional mariner. I work hard, pay attention to detail and have an excellent attitude for life at sea.

Experience

1973-1985 Owned and operated Charter boats in Washington and Alaska for Salmon and Halibut fishing. I managed all aspects of designing tours, booking, maintaining equipment and public relations. (In 1983 I was Project Manager and Captain of geophysical project in the Beaufort Sea for Exxon Corp.) Winters in Alaska were spent as a plumber, handyman and working as a Professional Musician.

1977-1980 Employed as Seat trial Captain and lead rigger for Delta Marine Industries, Seattle. I ran the rigging crew for vessel deliveries on the Duwamish River and Elliot Bay. I was responsible for all finishing details and dry dock repair work with a crew of 6 persons.

1986-1987 Worked as Parts Manager and Shipping and Receiving Manager for Alyeska Seafoods Plant in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Because of my previous marine experience I was invaluable to the vessels delivering to the facility as I was able to anticipate many of their needs and able to network with other venders in the area to keep them working.

1987-1992 Worked as mate and engineer on 100' fishing trawler in Alaska and California for Horizon Trawlers. Towed and maintained #5 Swan Midwater Trawls for pollock in the Bering Sea. Was responsible for mechanical repairs and maintenance and safety operations of the vessel, ordering parts and gear to maintain inventory.

1992-present Master/Mate for Fishing Company of Alaska. Operating floating catcher/processors in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. Responsible for the safe operation of catching and processing fish into frozen blocks for export to Japan, Korea, China and Canada. At sea transfers of 600 GT or more are commonplace for this industry. I have acquired safety awards and bonuses for safe operation.

2005 - Worked as Relief Mate for Matson lines during cargo discharge and loading of containers during off time from Alaska position.
