Objective
Looking to run a vessel in the commercial sector.
Experience
From Aug 1999 to May 2011 I have worked for Sea-Tow in the Tampa Bay area. In addition to assisting disabled vessels, Sea Tow was engaged in commercial work such as crew transfers, pilot shuttles, etc. For the last four years I have been the operations manager, responsible for hiring and training new captains, as well as performing the maintenance and repair work on the fleet. I also performed salvages with dive equipment.
Before Sea Tow, I ran a sightseeing tour boat (60' wooden hull), where a clean appearance and friendly personality were key. I also helped deliver a 52' sailboat from Ft Lauderdale to Boston, where I repaired various systems along the way. I have a very high mechanical aptitude, and can fix or troubleshoot nearly anything.
My Marine Career really started in the Coast Guard though, spending all four years on cutters. I "struck" Quartermaster and learned the profession of navigation, in the days shortly before GPS. As a Quartermaster in the USCG, my ship spent most of its time between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
