Senior Port Captain (2005 – 2014)
Oversee the daily docking of ships, and safely expedite the transfer of petroleum products. Liaise with terminal
Supervisors, Logistics Manager, and Operations department to maximize berth utilization and reduce
demurrage costs. Responsible for tracking all loss control issues related to CITGO Marine movements,
including Crude oil, Asphalt, and refined products. Perform vetting inspections to ensure vessels are adhering to
Industry, State, and local requirements. Conduct terminal audits of all CITGO facilities to certify adherence
to 33 CFR parts 154 and 156 for Marine facilities. Execute inspections of Marine survey companies to verify
compliance to API and ASTM standards. Provide annual training for “Person in Charge of marine transfers” to
CITGO terminals in my area of responsibility.

Master (2003 – 2005)
Responsible for crew, vessel, and cargo at all times while aboard. Communicate with Office staff,
Charterers, Brokers, Refinery personnel keeping vessel on schedule and diminishing unnecessary downtime.
Consistently adhere to strict OCIMF guidelines, resulting in a 50 percent reduction of deficiencies during
vetting inspections and increasing operational standards. Liase with all government entities, filing all
necessary paperwork clearing vessel for port entry. Write specifications for shipyard periods eliminating
rework, and reducing labor costs.
Chief Mate (1998 – 2003)
At Sea – Oversaw the safety of vessel, cargo, and crew while on watch. Developed and implemented a
maintenance plan for the daily upkeep of the vessel. Wrote shipyard specifications for all shipyard periods and
liased with office staff concerning procedures to carry out repairs. Managed proper maintenance of all
deck equipment and associated machinery.
In Port - Supervised all cargo operations. Formulated all cargo loading and discharge plans and instructed
junior officers on how to perform cargo assignments. Responsible for all tank preparation prior to loading.
Cleaned tanks according to OCIMF guidelines resulting in no contaminations or lost time injuries. Successfully
kept tank cleaning residues to a minimum reducing company costs for disposal. Met all charterer requirements
according to the charter agreement.
RICE, UNRUH, REYNOLDS, CO 115 Chestnut Street Philadelphia, Pa. (1996 - 1997)
Employed as a Ship Agent. Liaised with all government officials including U.S. Customs, Immigration, Coast Guard, and Agriculture to see that vessel meets all United States Regulations. Effectively communicated with refinery personnel, dock schedulers, pilots, and tugs to ensure no unnecessary delays are incurred by the vessel. Arranged and oversaw that all of the ships needs were met in a timely and orderly fashion. Informed Charterers, Owners, and Operators of vessels daily progress in port.

2nd Mate (1990 – 1995)
At Sea – Accountable for the safety of vessel, cargo, and crew aboard while on watch. Responsible for proper functioning of navigation equipment, radars, automatic radar plotting (ARPA), gyro and magnetic compasses, and global positioning receivers. Maintained charts and publications, routes between ports, course lines, medical locker, sea and port abstracts, and noon slips. Order charts and publications, necessary tools for navigation, and medical supplies. Supervised able bodied seamen during assigned watch.
In Port – Oversaw completion of Chief Mate orders in loading and discharging cargo. Directed tying up and letting go of all stern lines. Tended to the vessel’s swing from the stern. Accountable for all deck machinery while on watch. Monitored inert gas, vapor recovery, and tank gauging systems. Supervised all actions of crew members during assigned watch.
3rd Mate – (1987 – 1990)
At Sea – Maintained signaling equipment, alladis lamp, flags, all time pieces, and chronometer. Determined gyro error by recording azimuths and amplitudes daily. Took care of all safety equipment.
In Port – Supervised the completion of Chief Mate orders in the handling of all cargo systems. Directed the tying up and letting go of mooring lines. Watched the vessel’s swing from the bow. Was accountable for all deck machinery while on watch. Monitored inert gas, vapor recovery, and tank gauging systems.
