Dear Sir/Ma’am,

In applying to your good company, you may find my application somewhat out of the ordinary. I have 11 years’ experience in the Shipping Industry, as a Navigation Officer on tankers and other large vessels. I also was a part of Top Management of a small company for about four years which was doing Aquaculture business in Goa, India.

Presently, I have completed my academics and passed all my exams in MSc- International Maritime Studies, Ship and Shipping Management from the Southampton Solent University (U.K) and have done my dissertation on “Safety of Oil Terminal”. I attended this course as a precursor to a change in career direction.

I enjoy the challenge and pressure of being in a dynamic and a progressive learning environment.

Please consider the following in respect to my application:

• I definitely match the outgoing characteristics that you need for this position, having a gregarious and team-oriented nature, with good presentation skills and a good understanding of various cultures through having worked all over the world in a multi-national working environment.

• In the University, I have done various projects on Management, Shipping Ports and their Safety, carried out Risk assessments and planned Management and Operation Strategies for Companies.

• I’ve started to make the transition from ship to shore-based Administrative and Commercial roles. My entrepreneurial side is highlighted through my business development projects done in the MSc; and I already been an entrepreneur for four years on shore at an Aquaculture Company where I was looking after the Marketing, Management, Financial ,Sales and Production along with my business partners.

I am confident that the combination of my Strategic and Analytical ability will prove beneficial for your good company. My career aim is to grow in the International Business Sector.

I have attached my résumé and would be pleased to explore the opportunities with you.
