I would like to be a Machinist on board ship. I have 12 years at sea on Tenders and am familiar with multiple shipboard systems including Sewage, Pumps, and Valves. Journeyman machinist with experience on almost every machine shop machine.

• Performed maintenance on shipboard equipment and machinery using lathes, milling
machines, boring mills, grinders, power hacksaws, drill presses, as well as
Computer-controlled machine tools (CNC).
• Operated and performed maintenance on all machine shop equipment; utilized sketches,
diagrams, and blueprints; operated bench and pedestal drills, pedestal grinders, machine
reamers, engine lathes, planers or shapers, milling machines, computer-controlled machines,
band saws, arbor and hydraulic presses, performed computations to make threads, press
fits, tapers, and keyways; utilized machine attachments with special capabilities.
• Performed hardness tests on metal, plastic, composites, and castings; selected material
according to specifications; inventoried equipment; ordered repair parts, tools, and
materials; operated equipment that analyzes ferrous and nonferrous metals; performed heat
treatment operations; repaired fixed machinery and equipment; performed alignment tests
on ship equipment.
• Completed and reviewed maintenance data forms and reports; prepared weekly maintenance
schedules along with daily work schedules; wrote performance evaluations, and supervised

• Performs overall supervision of the Maintenance Department including hands-on
performance of maintenance and repair work;
• Maintained the building in good repair and free of hazards such as those caused by
electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems, etc.
• Maintains the building and grounds in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws;
• Maintains the fire alarm and emergency generator system in good working order, performs
test on fire alarm and emergency generator system weekly and keeps required records of
test results;
• Maintains required records and reports as outlined in the policies and procedures of
the Maintenance Department;
• Participates in budget planning for the Maintenance Department;
• Orders and requisitions supplies subsequent to Administrator approval;
• Orients and instructs all maintenance personnel;
• Participates in and plans in-service programs, as necessary;
• Attends Department Head Meetings and sits on required committees;
• Recruits, interviews, hires and provides orientation for all employees of the
Maintenance Department;
• Reviews and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel as well as
counsel/discipline assigned personnel according to established company personnel policy;
• Assigns work assignments and duty schedules;
• Remains on call for emergencies seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day;
• Performs other responsibilities, as may be required, and as directed by the Administrator;
• Concerns his/herself with the safety of all center customers in order to minimize
the potential for fire and accidents. Also, ensures that the center adheres to the legal,
safety, health, fire and sanitation codes by being familiar with his/her role in carrying
out the centers fire, safety and disaster plans and by being familiar with current MSDS;
• Assists in the maintenance and update of the Property/Plant Assessment on an annual
basis;
• Assists in the maintenance and update of the Centers Disaster Plan on an annual basis;
