Highly accomplished visionary Executive with domestic and international experience in business development, sales and operations. Proven track record of increase in sales, market share and profitability over past fourteen-plus years. Performed the necessary research and development work, including financial analysis, which enabled the expansion of core business to many new geographic areas. Very decisive and highly detail oriented.



• Instrumental in establishing Columbia Coastal as the largest provider of domestic container-on-barge transportation in the U.S. Over the course of almost fifteen years, a principal participant in the growth of annual revenues from $7 million to $50+ million.

• Created a joint venture of three companies with combined annual revenues of $200M to facilitate the waterborne movement of containerized municipal solid waste, the first such endeavor in the country.

• Conceptualized and subsequently implemented the first public/private short-sea shipping service between the Port of NY/NJ and the Port of Albany, generating annual gross revenues of $2 million.

• Strategized with a single client to develop and institute a proprietary feeder service between Philadelphia and Baltimore in lieu of a decades-old direct call, creating revenues in excess of $4 million per annum.

• Established and licensed Columbia Coastal as one of only two American transportation companies permitted to conduct repetitive trade with the Republic of Cuba.

• Sole sales and marketing representative in Boston when market share was increased from 35% to over 60%.

Senior Vice President of Business Development



The primary business of Columbia Coastal Transport is as a provider of port-to-port container-on-barge transportation. Customers include all of the world’s major container lines plus importers and exporters. Intertwined amongst the operations of CCT are several affiliated companies that provide myriad services within the transportation industry including: maintenance and repair; equipment leasing, storage and drayage.



Responsibilities:

• Second in command of 40-person organization, reported directly to company president.

• Preparation of annual budget, which exceeded $50 million. Annual submission to Board of Directors for approval.



• Principal contract negotiator with labor providers and vendors including the ILA, stevedores and terminal operators, shipyards, truckers and Port Authorities.

• Primary executive-level customer liaison.

• Research and Development of new business to continue growth of company, including expansion of core business plus initiation into tangent business.

• Analyze and evaluate all out-port weekly/monthly/quarterly revenue and cost reports.

• Monthly presentation to seven-member Board of Directors.



SEA-LAND SERVICE, INC. – Boston, MA 1988-1990

Marine Manager

• All matters pertaining to once weekly direct vessel call from Europe.

• Developed and implemented compliance program for interaction with various governmental agencies such as US Coast Guard, US Customs, INS and USDA.

• Preparation and submission of $10 million annual budget.

• Formulation of process improvement plan to enhance marine productivity, resulting in a 15% increase in two years.

• Participation in management team focused on quality customer service.
