Oct 2001 to July 2005: Master, Essar Shipping Ltd
• Took over command of new build vessel (British Eagle) from Samsung shipyard.
• Active participation in pre-delivery and delivery inspections of British Eagle. Carried out inspection of British Eagle as part of the pre-delivery team.
• Commendation for swift and effectual implementation of BP management system on British Environment after takeover from Inter Orient Ship Management.
• Commendation by BP for three accomplished Sire inspections (BP, Total & Shell) immediately on take over of British Environment.
• Command experience of Suez Max Crude Oil Tankers trading in US Gulf region engaged in ship-to-ship lightering operations.
• Undergone three US Coastguard inspections in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
• Dry-docked Suez Max Tanker in Nantong Shipyard, 2004. Project leader for Blasting, painting and steel renewal project of the vessel’s ballast tanks.
• Constant Liaise with Charterers, owners and various sub-contractors for optimum vessel performance.
• Liaised with Flag State, port state control officers, classification societies, PNI surveyors and suppliers for compliance and ancillary/support services.
• Developing and monitoring the budget and approval process.
• Support the HSSE shore team on achieving HSSE objectives.
• Project leader for :
? HSE Training on vessel which includes maintaining the training records of crew.
? Risk Assessment on various subjects (operations, engineering, marine, etc).
? Compliance of HSE policies procedures and standards by crew.
? Incident/Accident Management System (reporting analysis, recommendations, action plans and monitoring implementation) on the vessel.
? Implementation of Drug & Alcohol abuse policies and standards.
? HSE program of emergency response drills, training, and meetings.
August 1996-Oct 2001: Chief Officer, Essar Shipping Ltd & Tanker Pacific Ship Management
• Dry-docked 3 tankers as a Chief Officer at Singapore, Lisbon and Setubal.
• Undergone three US Coastguard inspections in 1996, 1999 and 2000.
• Liaised with ship managers and owners, classification societies and various sub-contractors and suppliers for compliance and ancillary/support services.
• Ensured safe navigation and cargo operation of vessels.
• In charge of maintenance and (as per Planned/Preventive Maintenance System) operation of the Shipboard related equipment.
January 1990 to February 1996: Essar Shipping Ltd
Direct Entry Cadet 1990. Worked progressively to Second Officer (1992)
• Dry-docked 2 tankers at Singapore (Sambawang Shipyard) in 1991, 1993.
• Handed over technical management of a Chemical Tanker to Chinese shipping at Shanghai in 1993.
• Took over Suez Max Tanker from Tromso Ship Management in 1993 and implemented Essar Shipping Management system.
• Undergone US coastguard inspections as 2nd Officer in 1994 and 1995.
