My last job was enjoyable enough, but I seek more than the day-to-day office environment now. I thoroughly enjoyed my volunteer experience aboard the NOAA research vessel last February, and it sparked an interest in a new path I wish to follow. I am seeking a change in my career path which includes more time in the field, more time off, and the ability to utilize some of my current skills, and learn many more.

A rotating position or equivalent is what I seek. I am in good physical condition and can stand up to the rigors of sea duty. I do not get seasick. I work well with others and am a team player. I can focus on the details and step back and realize the big picture.

I have over twenty-four years of engineering and technical experience ranging from design to customer service and technical support. My Ocean Engineering degree provides a diversified skill set for many applications. I learned of an opening that may be commensurate with your needs through your website. The preferred position I seek would allow me to be in a field station, preferably on a rotating schedule. Desired locations include, but are not limited to Antarctica, Alaska, wilderness areas, offshore stations, or at-sea positions, and I look forward to the challenge and adventure. I would like to expand on my recent at-sea experiences with the NOAA research vessels to include additional locations and ships. There is allowance for negotiation here, and I will welcome creativity and flexibility in this regard.

My professional experience has placed me in many areas and is transferable to a wide variety of applications. The majority of my profession is in project management, supervision, and technical support. However, I haven’t found anything I cannot learn, and I continue to broaden my skills. These multiple talents will provide you with a complete multi-tasking package. This enables me to be proficient at all phases of a project, from conception and design to testing and evaluation. I can work both autonomously or in groups. I have extensive experience in the field; I am at home either at a desk or on-site. I am quite comfortable with periods of travel and sea duty. I have never been seasick and enjoy life aboard ship or on station. I also enjoy the outdoors immensely and am comfortable in severe weather conditions. I am also in good physical condition and can do heavy lifting.

I am computer literate with knowledge and experience in many areas including Windows, Macintosh, Word, Excel, AutoCad, Powerpoint, GIS systems and mapping, various spreadsheet and data base applications, and material management and inventory systems. I have created, reviewed, and approved detail plans for many various projects, and do most of my own drafting. Technical writing and reviews are an integrated part of my daily routine. I have taken professional management and training courses.

I believe in being fully accountable for my responsibilities. I have a strong work ethic, am value driven, and am committed to my service. I can work efficiently and effectively under a wide variety of conditions. I am a dependable resource and can adapt quickly to changing job requirements. I am also very resourceful, persistent, detail oriented (of course), conscientious, and have a “can do” attitude. I will always find a way to get the job done. I work well with people and promote teamwork. I also have the distinct ability to deal with difficult situations and people in a professional manner, step back and focus on the big picture, and avoid micro-managing at all costs. My clients have come to me to solve their design problems in an effective and efficient manner, thinking “out of the box”, and on my feet, addressing all interests accordingly. I am straightforward, and conduct myself in a professional, but personable manner with absolute integrity. My word is my guarantee. You won’t find anyone more committed to servicing client’s needs, and finishing the job properly.

Allow me to become part of your team. I am available for an interview at any time and look forward to discussing this opportunity with you. I can be contacted via phone or the email address listed above. References are available upon request.
