Objective
To use my educational background in Marine Technology combined with three years of hands on experience as hydrographic surveyor and combined with knowledge of basic scientific instrumentation and good seamanship to continue a some type of career in the marine industry. I have volunteered on the water with many various tasks from the Queen Anne’s artifact retrieval to working with the Army Corp. I really enjoy being able to work outdoors in the sun and meeting great people to work with.
Experience
Hydrographic Surveyor Gahagan and Bryant Wilmington, NC 6 / 2008 -11 / 2010
• Conducted survey for sediment erosion, beach re-nourishment, and land measurements
• Used Trimble RTK systems to measure hydrographic survey marks on both land and in water.
• Recorded findings using HYPAC software and completed tide calculations to support recorded measurements
• Established reference points and benchmarks, reading of tides, set up grade stakes and used surveyors scope to read and evaluate measurement of level rods
• Recorded data, completed field book entries and submitted results to the US Army Corp of engineers.
• Performed duties as Hydrographic line swimmer in all weather conditions.
• Experienced helmsman with piloting of up to 85 ft. survey vessel.

After years of hands on experience working safely on many vessels, I experienced valuable lessons on good seamanship and how to safely work with and around heavy equipment. As a fast learner, it does not take long for me to acquire the necessary skills for any job. Punctuality, honesty, responsibility, and getting the job done right and in a timely manner are important to me. If hired, I would be able to show my skills with any task that I was given.
