Objective

Experience

• April, 1997 to present - Owner of Stetler Marine Surveys, based in South Florida. SAMS Accredited Marine Surveyor doing marine damage claims, management of re-fit projects on yachts, pre-purchase surveys, insurance surveys, and other specialized marine consulting. My damage claims work for various insurance companies involved verifying damages on vessels, determining cause, and coordinating with salvage companies. Pre-purchase inspections are done for buyers of vessels from all over the world, and insurance surveys are done for boat owners whose insurance carriers required a survey before they would issue or renew a policy.

• June, 1995 to April, 1997 - Electromechanical Research Laboratories, Inc., Florida Sales Representative and Factory Representative for SeaPower generator systems, marketing to boat builders and dealers, designing and testing new brackets, and training builder and dealer personnel in the product installation.

• April, 1986 to June, 1995 - Owner of Stetler Marine Services based in south Florida, providing captain services, maintenance services, commissioning services, and delivery services, for private yachts. I received my 6 passenger license in January, 1983 and upgraded to a 100 ton Masters license with a sail endorsement in March of 1986. I held that license for ten years, during which I logged over 50,000 miles on vessels up to 105 feet, both power and sail.

• March, 1984 to September, 1984 - Presidential Yacht Trust, Washington, DC. Served as Mate aboard the former Presidential Yacht "Sequoia", during a six month 6,000 mile great loop tour, to raise funds to maintain the vessel. Duties included Helmsman, Navigator, and Damage Control officer.

• December, 1983 to April, 1986 - International School of Sailing, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, American Sailing Association certified Basic Sailing instructor, Basic Coastal Cruising instructor, Bareboat Chartering instructor, Coastal Navigation instructor, and Advanced Coastal Cruising instructor. During this time I also managed the charter fleet of 20 boats for a year and did much of the commissioning of the new boats, and maintenance on the other boats.

• 1980 to 1983 - Gangplank Sailing School, Washington, DC, basic sailing instructor.

• 1974 to 1983 – During this time period, I worked for various architectural firms in Washington, DC and Annapolis, MD, and as company architect for a high end remodeling company in Bladensburg, MD.
