Duties: I merged my company, Phase II Design, in 2000 and became the west coast division of DNC of Mobile. I work on both stand-alone contracts, and projects with the parent office. I provide on-going design and lofting services to my client base, as well as with new clientele delegated through DNC. I design various types of vessels, and assist in the bidding and scheduling of jobs. This position requires use of AUTOKON, Shipconstructor 2005 and Acad2004/2005.

Way, WA

Position: President/Owner

Duties: As the president and owner of Phase II, I prepared all project bids, tracked progress, completion and customer relations throughout project completion. I worked at fairing, structural detailing, nesting and shop drawings using the Autokon system. I supervised up to five employees and executed all necessary training for their success. Equipment used included, APOLLO, HP Unix, and Microsoft PC workstations. I also utilized MS office software in the running of the business and for financial record keeping. The original mission of the company was to provide supportive lofting services to 2nd tier shipyards throughout the USA. By 2000, I had completed projects with over 50 shipyards on the East and West coasts, the Gulf coast and the Great Lakes. In addition, the company had completed military, municipal, experimental and commercial vessels. We worked on catamarans, slice, tuna boats, tugs, car and passenger ferries, gunboats, yachts, fishing boats and barges. Completed over 80 hulls from 18’ to 700’ of steel, aluminum and composite materials. I worked with the yards to develop a build strategy to best suit their capabilities and suggested many design improvements to improve production.

We produce both design and assembly/zone drawing for engineering a production. Software used is AUTOKON, 3D marine design and SHCP (Ship hull characteristics program). I have performed sub-contract work for AUTOKON Data, Jensen Maritime, and Todd Shipyard – L.A. with the AUTOKON system.

Interface of SPADES and CADAM database to other CAD/CAM systems and to client shipyards, engineering and production groups. My group aided and maintained both SPADES and CADAM databases for all departments, maintained and operated all (engineering computer services) hardware (computers, communications, terminals, plotters, etc.) and provided training and assistance to SPADES, CADAM, and other software programs. As part of our R and D effort to purchase a new CAD/CAM system I trained on a number of systems and ran production work on each to truly evaluate their capabilities. In addition I was a SPADES steering committee member, CADAM user representative, and the SPC JJ technical agent. I represented the J.J. Henry Company at ICCAS 1982, IREAPS/SPC Symposiums, and attended various CAD/CAM vender shows (SIGRAPH, AUTOFAC, Washington DC Defense Graphics, etc.)
