Responsible for docking, sailing and shifting of petroleum tankers (15,000-300,000 tons); towing fuel barges; bunkering cruise ships and the local power company, delivering tugs to Venezuela and Louisiana.

VI Fast Ferry

Served as master of the Calypso I, a 659 GT diesel engine (jet drive) ferry between the islands of St. Croix and St. Thomas for a total of 46 days. Cleared to operate the ferry, Royal Miss Belmar, also a diesel engine jet drive.

ALCOA (originally VIALCO) alumina plant

St. Croix, Virgin Islands



Port Operations Supervisor



Responsible for docking, sailing, shifting of 15,000 ton to 45,000 ton cargo vessels for the alumina processing plant at Port Alacroix, St. Croix. Oversaw all operations of Port Alacroix: on-loading and off-loading cargoes of all ships, all cargoes (coal, caustic liquids, baxite ore, alumina and general cargo); supervised all dock operations, including operation of bulk transfer systems; supervised crew of +/- 12 laborers, heavy equipment operators, divers, maintenance, electrical and mechanical personnel; conducted staff safety meetings; communicated with ships' officers; communicated and coordinated with ships' agents; facilitated processing of ships' documents; verified completeness and validity of documentation; inspected and maintained channel aids to navigation; maintained and operated work boats; planned and supervised dredging operations; conducted sounding surveys of lagoon and channel; conducted underwater and in-water surveys of pilings, seawalls and bottom.

Able to operate heavy equipment as follows: hydraulic cranes (up to 50 tons), Bobcat, bulldozer, forklift, tractor head, traxcavator, rubber tire loader, man lift, vacuum truck, Gandry crane.



Position was terminated as of March 7, 1995 due to plant closure. Stayed on in maintenance to oversee special project involving the environmental dredging of the cooling ponds until February 1996. Left ALCOA to accept position with HOVIC.
