Marine Regulatory Advisor

Objective


My objective is to be efficient in what ever work given to me and to maintain a standard in keeping a better safer shipping and clearner ocean.


Experience


Having been working for 18 years in the Maritime field handling various types of shipping documentation with a Msc Degree in Maritime Administration (Policy and Law) and a Bachelor of Art (BA) in Marine Affaires and Geography. I am confident that the skills I have acquired in the course of my professional experiences and educational background will be valuable assets for your organization and/or your clients.



I was employed by the International Shipping Bureau (ISB - Dubai office) until the end of August, 2008 assisting in ship registration and as well as handling seafarer's documentation. It involves 7 flags with 7 different requirements according to their flag national law. It deals different vessel registration procedure as well as different seafarer’s documentation as according to STCW convention.

Also I played the role of Assistant Designated Person Ashore (DPA) under the Triple M. Management role. Due to reorganization and restructure of the company some of us (workers) were lay-off from. I prepared the manuals for ISM and ISPS for various type of vessels.



Prior to that I was employed as Maritime Administrator at Fiji Island Maritime Administration of which I was greatly involved in ship registrations, seafarer’s documentation and also incharge of the ship survey personals inspection status.



Also I assist in giving lectures on the awareness of the STCW convention, ISM, ISPS and IMDG Codes to seafarers and the vessel seaworthiness and Hague Rule.



I personally believe in team work, a team player working towards the achievements of the organizations goal. I always uphold the vision, mission and aim of the organization to achieve good, greater and best result at the end of the required time.


Education


I had a Msc in Maritime Administration - (Policy and Law) from the World Maritime University in Malmo, Sweden.



A Bachlor of Arts in Marine Affairs and Geography from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, in the South

Pacific



A Diploma in Geographical Information System G.I.S. also from University of the South Pacific in Fiji.

I am very good in negotiatation, an excellent team player.

Was a member in negoating the maritime boarder (200 nautical miles) between my country -Fiji and Tonga.



I am well versed with computer and fluent in English


 


At the moment I am staying in the UAE, since my wife secure a job in the hospital here and I at home at the meantime looking for any opening.



I was employed by the International shipping bureau (ISB)Dubai Office and was forced to lay off last months due to financial crises from America since this is an American company.



I am willing to take up this offer and appreciated to work in a new country.
