RE: General Manager/ Sales and Service Manager Position

Dear Madam or Sir;

In managing a Yacht/Ship Marketing firm, I and my team exceeded sales, refit and operation projections through on time/on budget project completion and bold new marketing techniques. Included in these projects were private pleasure craft and ocean research vessels ranging in length from 60' to 200', powered with EMD 16's, 20's, and CAT 399's as well as smaller propulsion systems. I was required, and enjoyed, assimilating diverse mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system knowledge in serving as liaison between sub-contractors, engineers, and owners during project phases.

As manager of a Marine Rescue and Salvage Firm, I was often called upon to rapidly diagnose and repair propulsion and running gear components on small and medium size private vessels aground in the surf, or heading in that direction; this required accurate and timely execution (and greatly improved my crisis management capabilities). I trained a full time crew to perform these same actions while maintaining a strict code of safety for all persons involved. I also hired and trained a full time team of maintenance technicians to care for our fleet of rescue vessels, with an emphasis on Planned Interval and Preventive Maintenance procedures. Our professionalism, and improving the public perception of salvage operations, served as a basis for gaining a majority market share in our region of Annual Service Memberships sold, and strategic purchase of our competitor.

I was brought on board at my most recent position to change a three year old unprofitable repair, parts, and sport clothing facility to profitability. The Serviced Vessel Profile consisted of power and sail private pleasure craft ranging in size from 22' to 90'; stern drive, straight shaft, outboard and jet drive powered, gas and diesel. The Customer Demographic Profile ranged from weekend launch ramp boater to multi-national business owned pleasure yachts. We attained profitability in three months with the existing crew, steady growth for nine months, and significantly improved customer relations.

Directing salvage operations, estimating and contracting re-fit, repower, including fiberglass and steel repair, managing warrany claims for various manufacturers, and handling vessels up to 205' and 400 passenger capacity has well rounded my experience. Conducting safety seminars for new boaters, designing, equipping, training and staffing offices, trade show displays and dispatch centers has given me valuable insight into industry needs.

I enjoy managing a sales and marketing team given extreme challenges, and the diagnosing, projecting work dates, on time completion, and high level of customer satisfaction through exemplary service. I excel in training new sales representatives and technicians in proactive technique, and an office staff in customer care, to harmonize with overall objectives.

I could be a valuable asset to you in raising your customer satisfaction level even higher, maximizing your sales and service components, and am looking for an opportunity to apply my accumulated professional experience and enthusiasm as a team member. I know the impact that superior service has on a company's growth, reputation, and especially future sales.

Sincerely,

Donald T. Castellani
