ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in Marine Engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.



Experience in marine engineering or naval architecture (or both) as it relates to the design, construction and in-service support of hulls and superstructures, vessel deck equipment, vessel propulsion machinery and equipment and life saving equipment.



Peter Alexander graduated with a B.Sc in Electro-Mechanical Engineering and he also holds a degree as B Sc E in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. He has ten years experience in Ship design system and/or offshore Engineering Projects. He therefore meets and exceeds this essential qualification criterion.



Mr. Alexander has worked as a Chief Engineer with the BC Ferries for years. He has had years of experience working on vessels from coal fire, diesel (training on Mak, Caterpillar, MTU, Ford Sultzer, GE, Fiat, Crossly, Pielstick, Man, Fairbank Morse) and nuclear propulsion driven vessels. He has sailed on various types of ships from Ice Breaker, Container Ship, Lakers and Passenger Ferries.

His years of experience at sea as Chief Engineer means that he was responsible for the proper working of vessel shipboard equipment, vessel propulsion machinery, deck equipment and life saving equipment.

He holds a dual First Class Marine Engineer Steam and Motor Canadian, U.K and an International certificate of Competency Engineer Passed on 22/01/07 STCW-95

He meets and exceeds this qualification criterion.



ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Certification as a Professional Engineer.



Experience in icebreaker design and testing.



Sea time and ship board certification.

Mr. Peter Alexander has worked on the icebreaker designs and sailed on a variety of ships for the purpose of testing and verifying the design, construction and validity of ship sea worthiness. He has ten years experience in Ship design system and/or offshore Engineering Projects.He therefore meets this asset critera ensuring a right fit for the position of Marine Engineer with the Canadian Coast Guard, Engineering Services Division.



Mr. Alexander has obtained his sea time and holds a dual First Class Marine Engineer Steam and Motor Canadian, U.K and an International certificate of Competency Engineer Passed on 22/01/07 STCW-95.



Based on his sea time as Chief Engineer and work in shipyards, Mr Alexander has been exposed and involved in all aspects of Life Cycle Materiel Management.

Determine the acceptable level of financial risk exposure and alternative methods and processes to establish policy and strategy. Skilled to manage the provision of operational, technical, and advisory services in acquisition, planning, procurement, contract management and asset disposal . Understanding demands of mediation and negotiation with respect to solving contractual disputes, procurement, and supply management issues with Public Works Canada and Government Services Canada. Able to successfully lead or participate in committees addressing strategic contraction, and procurement policy.
