Objective
I am looking to further my career options from where I am now. I am wanting a job that will allow me to advance to the positions of Captain or Chief Engineer being that I have experince in both positions.
Experience
New Orleans Paddlewheels Inc. April 1,2003- Present. I was originally an undocumented deckhand on the Creole Queen in the Mississippi River out of New Orleans running cruises in the harbor area. I then transferred into the engineering department as an undocumented oiler and worked in that position until September 25,2007 I became a licensed Engineer on board the vessel. I have also operated as the Watch Captain, First Mate, and Pilot on board the Creole Queen for the past year and a half. I am not licensed in those positions, but I am working towards getting my 200 ton Inland Masters license with the experience that I have gained.
Education
I have some college background with my major being pre-law. When I began working full time I took a hiatus from school at Delgado Community College in New Orleans. I do anticipate on going back to school to get my associates degree in Nautical Sciences, but I'm not exactly sure when that will be.
Certification
4,000 DDE Merchant Marine Engineer's license.
First Aid.
CPR.
Basic and Advanced Firefighting.
Helicopter Underwater Egress Training.
Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities.
Skils
Mooring line splicing.
Maintain and repair pumps, machinery, A/C, and moderate engine work on Cat D353.
Electrical Experience with SCR Drive systems used to convert AC to DC for main propulsion of the Creole Queen.
Previous experience at the helm of a vessel, and all aspects of the deck operations.
Able to read Radar, just need to get certified.
I am a team player that is willing to take on any task that is put in front of me. I am willing to take a job in the engine room as a Licensed engineer or a deck job that will also allow me to still be able to drive the vessel. I am not looking to start at the bottom of the ladder or near the top, just in the middle where I am now, so I can still learn more about both of my career paths. I am eager to learn as much as I can on both Deck and Engineer sides. I am looking for a job that is more of a 7 and 7, or 14 and 14 or 28 and 28 type of schedule.
