Objective


I am pursuing a career on tugboats and supply boats. If hired it would be my desire to contribute my strong engineering skills and experience to your organization in a professional and technical capacity. I have relevant industrial experience on deep sea ships as a 3rd Assistant Engineer where I have worked independently and successfully completed my duty assignments. My training at Mass. Maritime Academy included maintaining a rotational watch standing schedule for extended periods. I was a respected member of the Regiment of Cadets and have worked as the leader of watch standing teams in an operational engine room environment.


Experience


Third Assistant Engineer

Sealift Inc. - M/V Ascension

07/02/2010– 07/29/2010



Duties:

- Watch Standing.

- Completed log book and noon report.

- Transferred fuel to the Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) and Diesel Oil (DO) day tanks.

- Operated and maintained Alfa Laval HFO, Lube Oil and DO purifiers.

- Maintained levels in the HFO and DO service tanks using the purifiers.

- Performed work duties assigned by the First Assistant Engineer.

- Recorded Oily Water Separator (OWS) and Incinerator operations in the Oily Water Record book.

- Monitored function of Main Engine while on watch.

- Observed function of the incinerator during watch standing hours.

- Adjusted steam pressures while waste heat and oil fired boilers are in operation.

- Conducted maintenance on Mirrlees Blackstone Diesel Generators.

- Monitored proper function of auxiliary machinery.

- Pumped bilges to designated oily waste holding tanks.

- Listened and felt for unusual operating sounds and vibrations during watch.

- Conducted and recorded boiler water and jacket water testing.

Duties:

- Assisted the Chief Engineer in scheduling, supervising, delegating and performing preventive maintenance action to shipboard equipment.

- Operated vessel's automated machinery plant as directed.

- Completed and recorded scheduled maintenance on the MAN B&W Ships Service Diesel Generators (SSDG).

- Manually and automatically paralleled the Ships Service Diesel Generators.

- Maintained the bilge pumping system.

- Participated in pumping slops ashore to trucks according to Coast Guard regulations, took bunkers from bunker barge and properly recorded operations in the Oily Water Record Book.

- Complied with USCG Chemical testing regulations as directed.

- Supervised engine department personnel as directed.

Engineering Cadet Officer

Duties:

- Collaborated with the licensed engineering officers on all specifics of the ships operation.

- Maintained the ships logbook.

- Operated the MSD system.

- Assigned various projects which involved metal work, carpentry and welding.

- Participated in the installation of a new plunger and barrel for a fuel pump on the ships Six Cylinder 15750 horsepower Hyundai B&W 6260MC-6 Slow Speed Diesel Engine.

- Took cylinder pressure readings on the MAN B&W 7L23/30-900 1064KW Diesel Generator and the two MAN B&W 6L23/30-900 851KW Diesel Generators.

- Experienced with both the computerized and manual methods to parallel the ships service generators

- Troubleshot ground faults using the ground fault detection system.

- Engaged and disengaged the jacking gear prior to starting the main engine.
