Experience


Varied experience has been gained in operation and maintenance of marine engineering machineries and equipments as a result of extensive tenures (18 years of sea service as Engine Room Artificer) at key supervisory appointments in various Indian Coast Guard ships. This 18 years of sea service coupled with 02 years tenure in Base maintenance unit, Chennai as “Mechanical engineering section-in-charge” and six months technical administrative job in ICGS Tuticorin have given immense exposure in the marine engineering department which helped in toning up skills in planned prevent maintenance of ship’s main engines, Marine diesel generators, at various capacities and numerous other auxiliary machineries. Undertaken dry docking and refit of various Indian Coast Guard ships in the capacity of engineering departmental chief/master chief, thereby liasoned with different departments of dockyard, workshops, Inspection and supervision of engineering work package and proving of various systems post refit.

OPeration and maitenance of marine engineering machineries for 18 years


 


(a) Planning and implementation of various periodical and preventive maintenance routines on ships propulsion machineries, Generators, AC plants, Various pumps, Compressors and numerous other auxiliary machineries



(b) Heading teams of mechanical Diploma Engineers in fulfillment of task such as operation, maintenance, continues watch keeping at sea.



(c) Preparation of technical demands, for supply of spares from store depot, Spares from authorized suppliers, Spare inventory and control



(d) Demanding fuel and other POL and keeping accurate record of receipt and consumption



(e) Preparation of defect list for ships various types of refits (short refit, Medium refit etc) dry docking routines, under water routines, and continue monitoring and supervision of timely and effective completion

(f) Nuclear Biological Chemical Defence and Damage Control including Fire Fighting



(g) Timely rectification of defects, Offloading defects to PAC firms



(h) Conversant with the handing over /taking over of newly constructed ships



(j) Forecasting of routine maintenance on various machineries and equipments keeping in view the operational commitments of the ships and timely implementation of the maintenance works



(k) Training of personnel (Diploma holders and other technical sailors) on fire fighting, Damage control, operation and maintenance of machineries, etc



(m) Staff works such as preparation of various technical returns, maintenance of log books, maintaining service records of technical sailors
