Indian Navy : Started with Indian Navy as an ERA apprentice in 1970. Upon completion of apprenticeship and obtaining Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1974 continued service as an ERA on board various Indian Naval ships until Nov 1980. Last rank held in navy was ERA 3.
Merchant Navy : Joined 1st merchant vessel in Aug 1981 as junior engineer and worked up the ranks along with necessary certification and presently have been sailing as chief engineer since 1998.

served on various 12 ships with Egon Oldendorff since 1987
