I am currently an active member in the Marine Engineer Beneficial Association and have been sailing for the last two years as a Marine Engineer on board container ships and oil tankers contracted with the Union.

           

ConocoPhillips Incorporated, Houston TX                                                      1999-2012

 

During my tenure with ConocoPhillips I performed the duties of Third Assistant Engineer, Second Assistant Engineer and was fully promoted to First Assistant Engineer in 2008.

 

  • In my position as First Assistant Engineer I worked closely with the Chief Engineer to accomplish engine department goals.  My primary duty was to direct all Engine Department personnel responsible for operating and maintaining the mechanical systems associated with a 140,000 DWT Millennium Class Crude Oil Tanker. 

 

  • My specific duties included: vessel safety implementation and training, leading daily engineering safety and production meeting, coordination of general and equipment specific maintenance assignments, environmental compliance auditing and documentation, consumable materials procurement and budget management, subcontractor supervision during lay berth and vessel dry docking periods.

 

 

ARCO Marine Incorporated, Long Beach, CA                                                  1997-1999

                        

                       Upon graduation I was immediately hired by AMI in the capacity of Engineman.  Promoted

                       To Third Assistant Engineer in 1999.            

                        

  • Responsible for standing engine watch onboard fleet steam ships ranging from 18,000 to 35,000 Shaft Horse Power.  Specific duties as Third Assistant Engineer included designation as ships electrician, responsible for all vessel electrical preventive maintenance, control automation troubleshooting and repair, turbo generator maintenance, and emergency backup system testing and maintenance.

 Note: The AMI fleet was purchased by Phillips Petroleum in 1999
