U.K. based Class 1, Motor, Unlimited C.o.C. Engineer seeking Australian position with company willing to sponsor towards residency. Onshore or Offshore positions considered.

Responsibilities include safe technical operation, maintenance, repair and budgetary control. Preparation and supervision of drydock specification. Liason with crew, Flag state and Classification representatives involved in management of Svitzer U.K. Tug Fleet. Vessels include ASD, Voith Schneider & azimuth tractor propulsion units powered by Caterpillar, Ruston Wartsilla-Stork, MaK and Niigata engines.



Oct 2007 – Dec 2008. Chief engineer, P.D. Teesport Ltd.

Chief Engineer on Diesel / Electric propelled dredger. Responsible for safe operation and control of main and auxiliary power plant, propulsion, operation and support equipment. Management of power & fuel, distribution systems and safe working procedures. Maintenance planning, repair and upgrade of ships equipment and systems. Machinery inspection, report compilation and log keeping, etc.



Mar 2007 – Oct 2007. Contract Sales Engineer, Konecranes Service Ltd.

Sales and maintenance advice, estimation, compilation and negotiation of maintenance contracts. Equipment surveys, Client consultations including advice on L.O.L.E.R. and P.U.W.E.R. legislation etc.



May 2006 – Mar 2007. Mechanical maintenance technician, Northumbrian Water Ltd.

Fault analysis, maintenance, commissioning and repair of various process plant machinery and equipment. Responsible conclusion of tasks to include risk assessments and assuring relevant regulations are adhered to. Confined space work, lifting operations and supervision of contractors etc.



1991 – 2006. Shift supervisor / Network Controller, Northumbrian Water Ltd.

Control and monitoring of regional water and sewage networks by use of DCS telemetry Control Systems, approximately 2500 operational sites including treatment plants, river abstraction and transfer schemes, Kielder Hydroelectric generators and pumping systems. Predicting network demand and setting of treatment plant output targets. Optimising pumping and storage costs, analysis and prioritisation of faults and incidents involving mobilisation and liaison with maintenance and operational staff, management and emergency services, various industrial customers and government authorities.



1985 – 1991. Chief engineer - Tees and Hartlepool port Authority, Middlesbrough



Chief / Maintenance Engineer on dredger fleet, pilot boats and auxiliary craft. Responsible for safe operation and control of various main and auxiliary power plant, propulsion and support equipment. Management of power, fuelling, distribution systems and safe working procedures. Maintenance planning, repair and upgrade of various equipment and systems. Implementation of machinery inspection, report compilation and log keeping. Supervision of staff and procedure training.



Mar– Sept 1985 2nd Engineering Officer- Coe Metcalfe Shipping Ltd, Liverpool.



2nd Engineer officer on drilling and seismic survey vessels. Responsible for safe operation / maintenance and fault analysis on: marine diesel engines, boilers, auxiliary equipment, “A” frame and crane recovery of tow fish / vibrocorer equipment. Crew & contractor supervision.



3 mths full time courses at Hull college of Higher Education & South Tyneside Marine College.

4th Engineering, on foreign going dry-cargo vessels. Duties including operation, maintenance and control of marine diesel engines, electrical systems, generator synchronisation, boiler plant and auxiliary equipment. Ability to maintain a safe engineering watch using appropriate maintenance and repair procedures. Routine pumping operations of bilge, ballast, fuel, lubricating oil, fresh water and cargo transfer procedures ensuring compliance with pollution prevention requirements. Maintain sea worthiness of ship, safe working procedures, Fire prevention, care of emergency safety / fire appliances including organisation of emergency response parties, test procedures and drills. Crew supervision and Legislative requirements.



1974 – 1978. Mechanical Fitting Apprenticeship – Smiths Dock, Middlesbrough.



Involved with all aspects of construction, commissioning and repair of marine diesel engines, power plant, boiler systems, pumps, compressors and various auxiliary equipment. Also including contract maintenance at Shell Oil refinery, Teesside.
