Skils
DIESEL ENGINES:
• Maintenance & overhauling of all types of diesel engines, their components, deflection of crankshaft to analyze main bearings condition, de-carbonization of cylinder head, piston and cylinder liner, calibration of cylinder liners to assess liner wear, checking/adjustment of clearances i.e. of main & bottom end bearings, gudgeon pin & bush, valves, valves guides, rocker arm, tappets & bushes, intake and exhaust valves seats, piston and rings. Setting & testing of alarms of engine lube oil, cooling water. Purification and filtration of lube and fuel oil. Overhauling and setting of fuel injectors and fuel pumps and adjustment of fuel timings. Overhauling of turbocharger and setting of its clearances.Trouble shooting and fault diagnosis of engine.
• Operation & monitoring of diesel engine, recording of indicator power and draw cards for analyzing its performance, monitoring temperatures and pressures, electrical load and synchronization.
BOILERS:
• Operations of oil fired and exhaust gas heat recovery boilers of both water & fire tube types. Setting of safety valves. Overhauling of all mountings like Main steam stop valves, main & aux feed valves, soot blow valves, blow-down valves, scum valve etc. Maintenance of feed pumps, burners and draft fans. Testing of boiler feed water to analyze its condition and chemical treatment thereafter.
PUMPS, COMPRESSORS & HEAT EXCHANGERS:
• Overhauling and maintenance of all types of pumps likewise Centrifugal, Gear, Screw, Vanes and Reciprocating. Checking of clearances & wear down of impeller, wear rings, shaft, bearings, bushes, alignment of pump, utility of gland packing or mechanical seal relative to the handling of liquid.
• Overhauling of multi stage reciprocating and centrifugal air compressors. Maintenance of their H.P & L.P valves, un-loaders, auto water content drains, checking of cylinder liners, pistons, rings and their clearances & setting/testing of relief valves.
• Maintenance of plate and tube type Heat exchangers, pressure testing for tube failure and its plugging, de-scaling and renewal of tubes and plates.
Experience: 1980 to at present: Served in various shipping companies on their vessels & have
experience of operation & maintenance of marine power plants following machinery:
> Diesel engines up to 22000 Bhp (B & W, Sulzer, MAN, Diahatsu, MaK, Ruston etc)
> Pumps: All types, Centrifugal, Gear, Screw & Reciprocating.
> Boilers: Water and Fire Tube.
> Compressors: Reciprocating and Centrifugal.
> Gas Turbines and Heat Exchangers.
> Oil Purification & Pollution Prevention Equipments.
> Sewage Treatment plant & De Salination plant.
> Hydraulic and Crane Machinery.
> Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Plants.

Last position held: SECOND ENGINEER (Deputy to Chief Engineer)
Responsibilities/Duties: Management of maintenance & operation of plant machinery including utilities
fire protection & environmental support. Carrying out planned/preventive maintenance on daily, weekly
& monthly basis and submit reports to Chief Engineer. Deals with maintenance crisis management
like equipment failure & other emergencies, demonstrating problem solving skills & analyzing their
failure with corrective actions. Maintain inventory level to prevent overstocking & unnecessary downtime. Understanding electro-mechanical hazards to maintain good safety record. Complying with ISO/ISM system within company policy, classification societies & industrial practices. Delegation of jobs to other engineers/staff.
