Marine Engineer / Naval Architect

Objective

My goals are to obtain a long term career within an upstanding firm that will utilize my skills as a marine engineer/naval architect in design, development, test and evaluation (DDT&E) of military and/or recreational high speed littoral vessels/surface effect ships.

Experience

Structural/Mechanical Engineer

As both hull and machinery engineer, I was involved with the plan reviews for a variety of vessels and it systems. This included Offshore Supply Vessels, Tugs, Barges and High Speed Vessels. This involved extensive exposure to ABS Rules and Guides, COLREGS and USCG Load Line Manual

American Bureau of Shipping April 2010-Present

Drafter/Captain

While seeking full time employment, I further improved my knowledge of AutoCAD and got certified with the USCG as a OUPV Captain (inland waters). Successfully started an inland flats fishing guide service in the Central Florida Area.

Melbourne, Fl July 2009 – April 2010

Production Engineer

Served as the primary designer to design and construct the M-10 Hovercraft Trailer. Related tasks included creating 2D and 3D models to provide the basis for design and manufacture of marine FRP vessels. Other tasks included structural analyses of frames and structures.

Vectorworks Marine LLD, Titusville, FL.

January 2009-June 2009

Research Assistant

Designed and led the construction of an experimental tank prototype for ocean environment simulation to evaluate the hydrodynamic characteristics of ship hull coatings. The tank contained a unique boundary layer disc drive to move water without creating pressure gradients while minimizing electricity usage.

Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Fl.

May 2006-Dec 2008

Field Technician

Served as the field technician for the marine field projects on-board a 100 ft research vessel. Primary tasks for marine field projects were to instruct students on proper operating procedures for onboard equipment and data processing. Other duties included the repair and maintenance of all research equipment. The equipment included Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth Sensors (CTD) & YSI water quality sensors.
