Objective
To obtain an engineering position with an even rotation, competitive pay, competitive benefits, and compensated travel.
Experience
Class Surveyor Experience
•Surveyed for two years in one of the busiest ports in the world
•In my first year I became certified to complete more then 50 different surveys.
•Completed after construction surveys on hundreds of supply boats, tug boats, and barges
•Surveyed and completed the delivery of several new vessels
•Surveyed the worlds largest Spar, the world largest crane barge, an assortment of drilling rigs
•Reinstated Class on vessels being rebuilt after being laid up for years
•Familiarized myself and become certified to complete SOLAS and MARPOL surveys
•Worked with owners and engineers of many nationalities and been able to overcome communication barriers and achieve our objectives
•Through every survey I try hard to work with the clients to interpret and apply the intent of each rule, rather then blindly enforcing rules which may or may not apply to a given situation
Merchant Marine Experience:
•Nearly five years of experience as an engineering officer in the Merchant Marines.
•Responsible for the oversight of engineering operations and the maintenance of electric generation power plants, steam propulsion plants and direct diesel propulsion plants.
•Redesigned systems for greater efficiency, ease of operation, and assurance of safety
•Wrote instruction manuals for plant operation, trouble shooting, and repair when none existed or the existing manual was incorrect or unclear
•Re-evaluated several Preventive Maintenance Schedules to make them more efficient and specific to the vessel to which I was assigned
•Trained new licensed engineers and unlicensed engineers to plant operations and plant monitoring
•Designed and fabricated parts for machinery when no replacements were available
•Responsible for calculating the blending of different brands of lube oil when switching from Mobil Oil to Shell
•Ensured that all were familiar with safety devices and emergency procedures and that those procedures were being upheld in day to day activity
•Every job I have had, I have done my very best work, and I have left each vessel in better condition then when I joined.
