Marine Drafter/Designer

Objective

As a Senior AutoCAD Drafter/designer with 20 years experience who is versed in most every discipline, plus diverse skills in many other interconnected programs. Additional I have extensive skills ranging from 3D modeling of parts, reverse engineering to maintaining the ECO’s and BOM’s. I am highly skilled, adaptive, with strong works ethics. I am looking for the right company that will benefit from my extensive skills and allow me to grow and learn in my career.

Experience

2007 - 2008

BlueWater Design, Inc, (SuperYacht designer) Delray Beach, FL: I worked on the structure of 186’ super-Yacht using an AutoCAD add-on called Ship Constructor, as well as AutoCAD 2008 for shop dwg’s. Ship Constructor also uses plumbing, HVAC, assembly dwg’s functions. I use another program called NC-PYROS, for nesting of parts for CNC machines. I learned these programs with on-line help by myself in 3 weeks. I am certified by Ship Constructor.

2006 - 2007

PanelTronics, Inc, (Power Distribution Systems) Hialeah Gardens, FL: I did extensive 3-D modeling of parts in AutoCAD 2006, MechanicalCAD and some SolidWorks after which I would assemble the distribution panels in 3-D and wire the panels, insert the panels into enclosures to suite the needs of the customer’s order, and list the BOM’s used in the assembly. The Engineer would look over the wiring in the schematic to make sure it was to NMMA standards and release the drawings to manufacturing. This was a 6 month temp job from TechniPower in which I worked for a year and a quarter. Job ended on excellent terms.

2006

Morgan Technologies, (Architectural firm) Coconut Creek, FL: I set up jobs, laid out and wired lights and all the electrical according to architect's drawings and engineer's circuitry layout using AutoCAD 2005. This employment lasted for two and a half months; they needed me right away to fill the job until they could find more appropriate help to suit their needs better.

2005

Patrick Knowles Designs, (Premiere Designer) Fort Lauderdale, FL: I laid out detailed drawing of yacht interiors, woodwork and stone patterns. Adobe PhotoShop and CorelDraw 12 were used to scan in, alter and clean-up hand drawn illustrations for client approval and presentation. Excel was used for listing all detail drawings and illustrations, and I assisted in compiling these into booklets for clients and boat shows. Job ended on excellent terms, contract was completed.

1997 - 1998

Broward Marine, (Premiere MegaYacht builder) Dania, FL: As a Designer Apprentice, the engine room was my main responsibility; requiring knowledge of machine shop practices. I executed detail drawings of engine mounts, shafts, bulkheads, and anchor layouts. Later, my responsibilities included the design of the ship’s other systems; water, drainage, electrical, fuel and waste tanks, consol layout for fly bridges, and the general arrangement of the suites in the production of these built-to-order aluminum hulled yachts. During quieter moments at the Port Laudania facility, I also helped two other employees in learning to draft in AutoCAD.

1996 - 1997

R.A. Kamm & Associates, Inc., (Engineering Consultants) Boca Raton, FL: At this consulting engineer’s firm I was an AutoCAD r14 operator and worked in the disciplines of electrical, lighting, HVAC and on occasion isometric plumbing. I also performed job set-ups, in which I would take an architect’s drawings and make changes so that other engineers could incorporate their work on the drawings for the client and/or architect’s needs.

1993 - 1996

Web Dynamics, (Premiere filtration manufacturer) East Stroudsburg, PA: I worked with both AutoCAD (r11) and board drafting for mechanical, machine shop drawings, electrical and architectural projects. I worked closely with the facility’s engineer while implementing new extruder designs for on site fabrication, customized parts and frames assembled on location. I generated floor layouts of the manufacturing areas for efficient use.
