US Navy Engineman July 1984 - July 2005 San Diego, CA Philadelphia PA, Groton Ct, Norfolk, VA



- 6 months as recruit in training and service school training for propulsion engineering basic skills to include piping systems, valve overhaul, pump overhaul, purifier maintenance and overhaul, steam generation systems, hydraulic systems and compressed air systems.



- 5 years as mechanic working on emergency generator sets, small boat engineering systems, catapult steam systems, main propulsion boiler systems, steam turbine generators, overhauling fire pumps, maintaining fuel systems, lubricating oil systems, cooling water systems, potable water systems and compressed air systems onboard aircraft carrier USS Kitty hawk.



- 3 years as Navy harbor tugboat Chief Engineer. Maintained and operated propulsion system, compressed air system, potable water system, bilge stripping system, fuel oil system, lube oil system, raw water cooling system, hydraulic systems, ballasting system, electrical generation/distribution system, fire fighting systems and galley equipment.



- 3 years engine/fuel pump and governor overhaul Shop Supervisor onboard destroyer tender USS Shenandoah. Included repair, maintenance and quality control inspections of various small boat operating systems and shipboard engines and associated auxiliary systems for ships throughout the Atlantic fleet. Worked as training coordinator for the shop.



- 3 years as job planner/estimator for outside machine shop at shore based maintenance activity. Researched, prepared work procedures, and procured resources for the completion of jobs on various shipboard and small boat systems.



- 4 years as Main Propulsion Plant Supervisor (EOOW) on board troop transport ship USS Tortuga. Included the supervision/performance of maintenance on all propulsion and auxiliary systems to include fuel oil systems, lubricating oil systems, auxiliary steam system, distilling plant system, firefighting systems, ballasting systems, electrical generation/distribution system, galley equipment, ships crew comfort systems and main propulsion shafting. Supervised the procurement of supply parts for the division. Coordinated and reviewed all job orders placed by the division for approval by the Chief Engineer. Stood watch as Engineering Duty Officer in port.



- 3 years as production supervisor for small boat engine repair shops, Diesel Regional Repair Center, and carpentry shop for Navy's Mid-Atlantic Region. Tracked and coordinated repair efforts between maintenance facility and customer ships.
