Diesel Engine Inspector

Imagine-One, Alameda, CA June 2011 to Present



Served as on-site technical expert for US Coast Guard National Security Cutter main diesel engine support and sustainment program in support of CGC BERTHOLF, CGC WAESCHE, and CGC STRATTON. Directed junior engineers through routine Diesel Engine Inspections for MTU Series 1163 main propulsion engines. Provided technical guidance to USCG Long Range Enforcer Product Line personnel to develop a robust maintenance schedule as well as granular detail in the proper development of maintenance tasks to increase the Coast Guard’s ability to accomplish routine tasks organically. Served as primary inspector for $1.3M contract on BERTHOLF, as well as various OEM supported overhauls across hulls. Facilitated discussions between Coast Guard technicians and OEM technical representatives to ensure long time reliability of the propulsion plant.



• Worked closely with the USCG Long Range Enforcer (LRE) Product line to assess issues and provide solutions to the WMSL class cutters regarding the Main Diesel Engines.

• Attended the NAVSSES Philadelphia Diesel Inspector Certification course.

• Worked with the local MTU shop on the replacement of eight turbochargers in 30 days at a cost of $1M.

• Prepared detailed MPC's for review and promulgation into the fleet for day to day operations.

• Attention to detail prevented the improper installation, by CG technicians, of attached pumps; saved the CG $500K.



Project Manager May 2008 to April 2009

Managed entire lifecycle of field service projects, to include job costing, budgeting, resource management, safety and delivery, for heavy machinery used in the Gas Compression and Power Generation industries. Specialized experience in integral, reciprocating, and state-of-the-art centrifugal compressors. Quoted projects and negotiated job scope and pricing with client. Determined manpower and tooling requirements. Ensured projects stayed within budget and upheld set margins. Maintained constant communication with client in regards to job progress, costs, repairs and post project follow-up. Compiled information regarding rework and client claims/complaints.



• Praised by customer for openness and honesty in expertly managing 2 outages at Phillip Morris USA. Brought projects in under budget, under schedule, and minimized downtime.

• Executed a major overhaul of an I-R 36KVS Integral Compressor at a Dominion Compressor Station in West Virginia that had been inoperative for an extended period of time, preventing the flow of gas into the pipeline.

• Driving force behind an outage at Conoco Phillips Refinery on a Worthington BDC-4 Compressor.

Managed workload of 7 technicians and oversaw shop operations to ensure quality of work and safety. Quoted work estimates, conducted inventory, inspected stock from vendors, reviewed invoices for accuracy and ordered parts for upcoming jobs.



• Saved company approximately $4,000 per month and increased efficiency by 50% by creating a new process for cleaning dirty parts arriving from customers, taking average turn around time from 3 days to 1.5.

Positions held throughout career included Eastern Region Customer Maintenance Service Manager, Senior Field Service Representative, and Senior Service Project Coordinator. Assigned work to mechanics; scheduled field service personnel; managed fleet; coordinated upcoming projects with sales, marketing, and management; sourced and ordered parts and performed accounts payable/receivable. Served as liaison to headquarters and oversaw safety and facility management. Utilized SAP software for invoicing, cost tracking, utilization, new vendor set-up, purchase order management and supply chain transactions.
