Marine Claims Handler

Objective

During my academic and professional background, I have developed a specialist interest in marine insurance and claims handling. I am deeply interested in pursuing a career in claims handling in a shipping company or an insurance organisation providing marine insurance.

Experience

Nov 2005 to June 2006

Assistant Coordinator in Operations Department

OSG Ship Management (GR) Ltd. - Athens, Greece

Responsible for handling technical information in a spare parts’ database. Also, participating in organising the spare parts’ orders and dispatch to vessels, according to time and voyage constraints, thus developing a better knowledge of the operations management of a fast growing world wide fleet of crude oil and product tankers. Furthermore, I developed a specialist interest in marine insurance and claims handling, which I decided to further pursue with a Masters in Maritime Law.

2002 to 2004

General Operations Coordinator in “EPILOGI”

(Shipping Products Retail Company - Athens, Greece)

Responsible for the construction of the company’s website including setting up an internet ordering service. Actively involved in the management of Stock Control and Orders Coordination. Also, assisting in Customer Services with participation in the company’s representation in various Pan-Hellenic Industrial Exhibitions.

Having worked as an assistant coordinator in the operations department of OSG as well as in Customer Services in a Shipping Products Retailer, I have experience in cooperating with teams from diverse professional backgrounds. My work experience in OSG, particularly my involvement in an innovative project supporting vessel operations has been invaluable. It has enhanced my ability to be attentive to detail, be able to prioritise under pressure and highlighted the importance of being pro-active.
