Experience
• Barbara J. Goldsmith & Company, Barrington, RI- Research Attorney (2010-Present). Barbara J. Goldsmith & Company is a consulting firm that specializes in environmental and energy policy and strategy matters in both the United States and Europe. Clients are primarily large industrial companies and state governments. Contracted to conduct legal research and assist in identifying legal liability and compliance issues in relation to environmental regulations and energy policy. Identified and commented on more than 100 cases, laws and regulations that directly influenced clients’ best practices. Cited for providing excellent research output on a daily basis.
• Performance Research, Newport, RI- Assistant Project Manager and Analyst (2005-Present). Performance Research is the world leader in evaluating corporate sponsorships through market research. Managed on-site research teams on several projects. Co-managed one of the company’s largest research projects. Coordinated the partnership between Nielsen Media Research, Performance Research and the Indy Racing League. Repeatedly saved the company over $10,000 due to mastery of Microsoft Excel. Recognized as one of the companies best analysts and writers. Trusted with ensuring quality control on documents, projects, presentations and statistical analysis for clients such as the United States Army, Visa, NCAA, M&M’s and Anheuser-Busch. Managed on-site research teams of up to 12 employees at high profile events. Given sole responsibility for reviewing and drafting employment contracts, employment handbooks, purchase and sale agreements as well as other general contracts. Oversaw drafting and negotiation of iPhone and iPad application software development contract between Performance Research and the development company. Purchased and implemented company-wide technology. Assisted in recruiting future interns and employees at local job fairs and colleges.
• Washington County Regional Planning Council, Wakefield, RI- Legal Intern (2009- 2010). Washington County Regional Planning Council is a non-profit organization charged with implementing programs that preserve land, promote economic development, enhance public transportation, keep water quality pristine, implement alternative energy and ensure availability of affordable housing. Aided in designing plans and practices to make Washington County, RI a better place to live and work by promoting shared services, preserving land and implementing alternative energy. Assisted in drafting and overseeing long-term energy service contracts designed to save Washington County residents millions of dollars. Served as the only legal research expert. Sole attorney on a team consisting of IT and other professionals tasked to bring a state-of-the-art fiber-optic broadband network to Washington County, Rhode Island. Developed and released RFP’s on behalf of Washington County’s towns for alternative energy programs. Helped draft legislation and resolutions adopted by the various towns of Washington County. Rendered legal advice regarding WCRPC’s position in regards to general contracts and project funding. Attended board and town council meetings. Drafted opinion letters and memorandums. Maintained office computer network and databases. Performed general office tasks.
• Internship for Pennsylvania State Rep. Scott Petri, Richboro, PA- Intern (2004-2005). Processed constituent recommendations, complaints and concerns. Managed data collection and entry. Took care of other computer related tasks. Aided in fund raising and event planning.
• Franklin & Marshall College, Sports Medicine, Lancaster, PA- Student Athletic Trainer (2002-2005). Assisted in the care of 10 varsity sports teams and two club teams. Interacted with players, coaches, athletic directors and spectators. NCAA regulations require trainers to think fast and work well under pressure due to time constraints.
• Princeton Bar and Grill, Avalon, NJ- Assistant Manager, Bartender, Doorman, Security (2002-2004). Managed the liquor store and 24 bartender night-club by keeping track of stock, money and customers. The nightclub is the largest in Southern New Jersey. Trusted with cash deposits of more than $20,000. Accountable for profit and loss management by being directly responsible for the cash register in the liquor store. All positions held here are high responsibility positions.
• Island Water Sports, Avalon, NJ- Water Safety Coordinator (2002). Supervised customers on powerboats and wave runners. Handled interactions with the business and U.S. Coast Guard and NJ State Police. Direct interaction with government agencies.
• Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, Mystic, CT- Husbandry Volunteer (1998-2000). Volunteered over 300 hours. Duties included caring for all fish and invertebrates, assisting in the veterinary care of bottlenose dolphins, cleaning tanks, transporting specimens and ensuring visitors enjoyed their time at the aquarium. Tasks also included laboratory research. Additional duties included capturing new specimens and conducting outreach programs.
