My working life has totally revolved around the sea & its by-products, onboard in command & ashore in senior positions. Diversity of vessel types: from submarines & fast patrol boats to oil-tankers & bulkers; from cement specialised (pneumatic, bucket, grabs) to FPSOs & cruise liners; from dinghies to megayachts & racing power-boats.
If one were to succeed - mostly alone and out of base - in one's mission, one had to be conversant with the people's culture and level of education; whith 'hands on'; in full integration & adaptation, while practicing the philosophy of 'emotional intelligence'. (Diligent work = Art).
Since 2001 I edit the bi-monthly bulletin 'Wavelength' addressed to seafarers and aiming to their character development
