FISHERS ISLAND FERRY DISTRICT, FISHERS ISLAND, NY- 2002- 2012

Assistant Manager, Municipal Corporation - Administer business office of ferry service operating between Fishers Island, NY and New London, CT with $3.2 million annual budget and ridership of 140,000 passengers.



• Perform all managerial duties in absence of manager

• Interact with regulatory agencies (U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, FAA, FBI); direct staff in compliance with regulations, policy and law;

• TWIC Certified; FSO, Fishers Island, NY

• Implement board policies

• Hire, process, supervise and assist employees, report payroll, oversee workers compensation, procure and administer benefit programs, maintain personnel files

• Prepare correspondence: general, legal/public notices, bid documents, board minutes, reports

• Account for monies received, deposits, petty cash, data collection, receivables/payables, light accounting, basic financial reports

• Assist with budget preparation and implementation

• Monitor freight operations, reservations system and personnel

• Oversee secondary operation: Elizabeth Field Airport, work with FAA, issue notices to airmen, create landing fee structure, work with engineers on maintenance projects

• Oversee secondary operation: Fishers Island Community Theater; seasonal venue; procure films/personnel, accounts payable/receivable, building maintenance

• Developed/refined guidelines and procedures governing Fishers Island Ferry District’s annual board of commissioners’ election

• New London, CT Port Terminal Construction – (2002-2005) - $9 Million project

Supervised payables/receivables, government and sub-contractor liaison, tracked grant payments from CT Department of Transportation; Personally responsible for recovery of unpaid retainage fees of approximately $300,000.00

• Fishers Island, NY - Dock Reconstruction - (2000-2001) - $2 Million project

Contractor liaison, supervised payables, tracked grant disbursements to District

• Assisted in implementation/conversion of DOS freight system software to customized Quickbooks

• Assist in design/implementation of two-way fare ticketing to round trip ticketing system

• Contributed to development of identification system for year round resident discounts
